New Music Releases Thread

I think my top 3 are all punk:
Grade 2 - Grade 2 (most exciting punk band around at the moment IMO)
Rancid - Tomorrow Never Comes (return to from one of my all time faves)
Values Here - Take Your Time, I’ll be Waiting (female fronted skate-punk/melodic-hardcore, new project by John Porcelly from Youth of Today)

Jason Isbell and The Mary Wallopers would make up my top 5.

Young Fathers
Julie Byrne
boygenius
LIES
Sufjan Stevens

My top 5. Think the order changes depending on mood but I’m definitely going to be working on the recommendations and top 10s that others have put out there. Also missed/forgot that Yves Tumor had an album out so I actually need to go and listen to that properly

All female top three

Corinne Bailey Rae - Black Rainbows
Caroline Polachek - Desire, I want to turn into you
Sofia Kourtesis - Madres

Mandy,Indiana could have been in there
Erland Cooper - Folded Landscapes and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s final album would fight it out for a spot the top 5

Hon. mention to the Songs of Nick Drake compilation

It has been a good year, hasn't it? Half of these I thought came out in 2022 to be honest.

Have to say it's been a poor year for albums which happens. No real standouts. A great year for gigs though with loads of highlights including:
Blur at the City Hall
Barry Hyde at Pop RECs
TV Personalities at Pop RECs
Graham Parker at the Fire Station
New Order in Leeds

Wrong thread I realise.

In no particular order, the albums released this year that I have listened to the most were:

ART - Lottery Winners
From nothing to a little bit more - The Lathums
Shanty Punk - Skinny Lister
Irish Rock n Roll - The Mary Wallopers
People Like Me and You - The Sherlocks

My liking for indie guitar music is alive and kicking.

Top 10

Blur
Blink-182
The Hives
Paramore
Queens of the Stone Age
Gorillaz
The National - First Two Pages of Frankenstein
Lankum
Lana Del Rey
Boygenius

Not a great year

TVPs!!....God....my teenage years!

I haven’t seen Avalon Emerson mentioned on the thread (I’d never heard of her before), but I’ve just recently listened to her latest album after catching one of the singles on 6 Music.

It’s a cracker and probably would’ve made it into my top 10 if I hadn’t gone so early :)

As mentioned above, we're starting to get back to something like a release schedule now. The Sprints album from last week is excellent BTW.

Pressing onward, we have albums from 21 Savage, Bill Ryder-Jones, Bring Me The Horizon, Kali Uchis, Marika Hackman and The Vaccines tomorrow
Folly Group's debut is also out.
