New Music Releases Thread

Popping to HMV after graft to pick up the Iowa vinyl reissue by Slipknot - been after it on LP for years. That's about as much I know of "new releases" these days

im not unbiased when it comes to all things radiohead, so its like leaning against an open door for me - but i concur, especially after repeated listens today.
I’ve only listened once and it was kind of in the background while I was doing stuff. But there were quite a few moments when it caught my attention and I thought ‘this is brilliant’. I don’t even know what moments they were cos I wasn’t looking at the track listing. Can’t wait to sit down with it properly.

The Smile is superb as expected, kind of wish they hadn’t released as many tracks ahead of the album

Morby I’m not a huge fan of, but enjoyed it a lot on first listen. I’ve almost forgiven him for that f***ing stupid jacket he used to wear

Gentle Sinners are a new name for me, but Moffat/Twilight Sad seems to work

Kendrick I’ve only listened to the first few, didn’t grab me, but then again I liked untitled unmastered most

Moderat and Flat Worms live album still to listen to

Can’t be arsed with Black Keys or F&TM unless @Arkle tells me they are great. Which he won’t

Listened to The Smile (superb) and Morbo so far. The Morbo album is up there with his best. Will work through some others over the weekend (in work both Saturday pm and Sunday pm so not a lot else to do). I'm preparing to be underwhelmed by Black Keys. Don't think I've ever listened to a full F&TM album and doubt I'll change that (reviews aren't that good).

I’d heard the Smile stuff as went to one of those London shows so knew it would be good. Was still really looking forward to it tho.

Not quite new music related, but I'm loving Amyl and the Sniffers who I only discovered thanks to this thread about 8 months ago when they released their latest album. Absoloutley obsessed by them now and following their debut tour of the States.

Also led me onto Pist idiots and Straight Arrows who I'm now loving.

Also someone mentioned The Floodlights in this thread about a year ago and love them. Normally hate the Aussie accent but in these bands it just works and brings so much to the music.

Thanks to all the contributers of this thread, by far the best and friendliest section of the forum 👍

Recent favourites…

Dead tongues, by a fella from hiss golden messenger, shades of Neil young/Dylan.

Cry Mfer, lily konisberg and bloke from water from your eyes. Country indie pop.

The stroppies, Aussie band, quirky indie pop, remind me a little bit of early the goon sax.

Pete Mancini, produced by a couple of the DBtruckers, sound a bit like them/Jason Isbell.

Royksopp, great to hear new stuff from these, quality synth pop
