I tend to agree, in interview at least. Difference is Sleaford Mods music is, in the main, excellent.

I liked the first two albums a lot but the female artist thing today was unnecessary and daft. As you say, take someone else if Nadine Shah has asked for too much. TBH, there are female artists who would be a better fit for Idles' audience than Nadine Shah and she's a class above them musically anyway.

On a side note, I can't help feeling that the Jason Williamson/Sleaford Mods vs Idles claptrap is a bit of an industry driven thing. Generate column inches to generate sales/streams. North (well Midlands) vs South (well, south west), working class versus middle class etc. Nadine Shah's last two albums have been better than anything either's ever released, of course.

I really like Sleaford Mods - writes about his life and what he sees with humour and wit. Bloke from Idles is a middle class bloke pretending to be working class who wants to write political songs. He's a sham.

Maybe, other than him liking the sound of his own voice I don’t know if he’s a sham or not. I take your word for it.
For what it’s worth, I can’t get away with Sleaford Mods, his socialism is hypocrisy personified,claims to be man of the people but he’s in bed with that scab cu*t Burgess. His actions speak louder than his words imo

Few years back BBC staff went on strike due to making Redundancies whilst advertising the roles externally. BBC staff rightly went on strike including lauren Laverne from her 6 music show. Tim Burgess for reasons best known to himself decided it would be ok to cross a picket line and do the show.

Whilst I abhor his decision to do that, I equally Find it difficult to swallow Jason “right on” Williamson’s support to Burgess through playing ball with him on his listening parties. Williamson’s from Nottingham who as a city have long standing affiliations with that sort of behaviour so maybe he thinks it’s ok. To me he’s a hypocrite, maybe I’m looking way to much in to this and apologies as it’s not the first time I’ve bleated about Burgess I just find the whole thing hugely false.

Ah actually now you’ve said that it rings a bell being mentioned on here before, sure another posted was pissed off as Burgess had shagged his lass. :lol:
 
I guess I should post about the first four albums from this week that I've listened to cos one of them is pretty bloody brilliant...

Anjimile - it's quite short (27 minutes) but it's close to album of the year. It's basically like an early Sufjan album with flecks of African guitar. Absolutely cracking!
Asian Dub Foundation - I half expected this to be poor but it's actually pretty good. They don't really deviate too much from their rap/rock but Asian thing throughout. There's a great Stewart Lee sampled track midway through.
The Apartments - gentle, chamber room indie (whatever that means). Literate and lovely.
Matt Berry - it's an enjoyable album. Not a lot to say beyond that. Very 7/10.

Fenne Lily is great

The other half of the week:

Native Harrow - female fronted folk rock. Quite a good gardening soundtrack.
Deradoorian - a bit krautrock, a bit psychrock, very enjoyable.
Osees - quite concise for John Dwyer. 39 mins long, no track longer than 5 minutes. Stoner/garage rock. Good!
Neil Young - it's Neil doing his old protest songs (plus The Times They Are A-Changin') updated lyrically for 2020. Enjoyable enough but barely essential.
Cults - highly enjoyable frmale fronted indieish poppy stuff.
Sault - this got a 5 star review from The Guardian. It's ridiculously good. Covers soul, disco, a bit of rock, a lot of politics. Sounds like a late 60s album but also like a very 2020 album. They're an anonymous British collective and this is their fourth album in 2 years.
Fenne Lily - a lovely, gentle indie album that sounds both British and American at the same time.

Album of the week: I'll say Sault, although Anjimile is close.

i lose track with Sault. They same to release an album every other week. All the album covers are the same pretty much aswel.
is this one just out ?

will listen to Detadoorian also. Sounds great.
