New Music Releases Thread

Power Trip's Riley Gale has died aged 34. Hadn't heard them before reading his obit. in the Guardian but thought I'd give them a spin. Thrash metal, 'Nightmare Logic' is a belter, given it's not my usual taste in music.

I hadn’t heard of them until this week later but was going to give them a spin this weekend.

Are they definitely power metal? I had heard them described as “crossover thrash”(Which is basically thrash with hardcore influences) so I was expecting them to sound like Suicidal Tendencies rather than Dragonforce.

Edit - I see you’ve changed your post to say Thrash now.

I was due to see them supporting Lamb of God, only recently discovered them but what I've heard from them has been brilliant and Riley Gale seems to have been a very switched on bloke. Any news on what happened? I can't seem to find anything

Band made an announcement of his passing but made no reference as to cause.
It is with the greatest of sadness we must announce that our lead singer and brother Riley Gale passed away last night. Riley was a friend, a brother, a son. Riley was both a larger than life rock star and a humble and giving friend. He touched so many lives through his lyrics and through his huge heart. He treated everyone he met as a friend and he always took care of his friends. We will celebrate Riley’s life and never forget the great works of music, charity, and love that he left behind. You, the fans, meant so much to him, please know how special you are. If you have a memory of Riley please share it, no matter how small, as we remember him.

Tanya Donnelly was in Throwing Muses and is also in Belly. Not sure what the new album is like but she's indiepop-ish with a bit of shoegazey stuff.
Tanya D was out a couple of weeks ago - I think I mentioned it. It’s not really like TD or a Belly, except for her voice. It’s a covers album - more jangly and summery with bits of strings than loud Indie guitar stuff. It’s pretty. Wide range of covers - Kinks, Go-Go’s, Split Enz, Echo & the Bunnymen, Pretenders, Leonard Cohen off the top of my head.

I missed that. Must be physical release tomorrow.
kelly Lee Owens is great but not your thing really mate. It’s vocal electronic stuff

Definitely one I'm looking forward to. Her previous album is excellent!

I'm really enjoying what I heard of The Lemon Twigs album earlier before Spotify started playing up in the car. A sort of 60s/psychedelia/glam rock fusion.
All the comments on here and the reviews I've seen have been good, so I probably need to give it a listen. I've never heard them but I've had a real quite extreme dislike for them for a couple of years, based solely on image, from photos of them on gig lists and in articles, because I'm a superficial tool!

Elton John was banging on about them yesterday too.

Fuck that then lol

IMO they're crap.
