The new stuff I've listened to over the weekend then...
Dana Gavanski - as
@The Music Man says, a five track EP of covers. All lovely TBH. She still sounds like Cate le Bon.
Orville Peck - a six track EP. A couple of songs were released as singles previously. It's generally ace!
Kathleen Edwards - Americana-ish singer-songwriter territory, reminiscent of Laura Veirs. Very good.
Fantastic Negrito - blues, funk, soul, rock, hip-hop etc. in one big melange. As
@Mickdundee says, it's probably a bit more mainstream than his first two albums but no worse for it.
Kath Bloom - she's an old school folk veteran with a cracking voice. A couple of tracks jar a little but generally very good.
James Dean Bradfield - already discussed. It's very good, better than most of what the Manics have done recently.
Jim Bob - very Carter the USM, as you'd expect. Clever/witty punkish songs about the UK in 2020.
Martha Ffion - she's an Irish singer-songwriter, based in Glasgow. Quite poppy with a dream-pop/shoegaze sheen. Very enjoyable.
Oscar Jerome - part of the UK's new jazz scene. This steers a bit too close to jazz funk for me at time but is still a worthwhile listen.
Whitney - a solid enough covers album, continuing on their country-soul pathway.
I'll say Fantastic Negrito gets album of the week, although the EPs from Dana Gavanski and Orville Peck run him close and both James Dean Bradfield and Jim Bob roll back the years enjoyably.
