New Music Releases Thread

Also listened to new albums by Ciaran Lavery (raw Irish singer/songwriter - pretty good)
Inexorum (self-described "melodic intersection between black and death metal" - comedically fast drums, Cookie Monster vocals, helped me work :D)
Woods (melodic West Coast vibe, a bit throwback)

That Sei Still album is probably my favourite of the year so far. Googled them the other day and was surprised to find out the were Mexican.

I know, it’s the most un Latin American sounding music and band name ever. It’s a great record.
Can confirm this slaps.

James I’m sorry and this is going to sound really uncool but is slaps, good or bad ??!!

I had a very brief flick through earlier and it sounded good I thought

Just listened to Palimpsest by Protest the Hero. It's Canadian prog metal or math metal with an alt edge, kind of like a metal band with Gerard Way on vocals - something a little different for me and I quite liked it on first pass. Will listen again.

Platzwave - topic (I think this is the name of the album) - techno dance music.

pip millet - lost in June EP - it’s r’n’b / soul music.

Teeth agency - piano man breeds love. As it suggest piano instrumentals.

So far today (didn't listen to anything new yesterday, just caught up with assessing/re-assessing albums released earlier in the year, that Mogwai soundtrack is a gem!):

Pottery - very good, quite Talking Heads as @mad cyril says. One song sounds like Nick Cave fronting Talking Heads.
Daniel Avery - this is really, really good. You know the drill with him, it's electronica that's not particularly aimed at the dance floor.
Nadine Shah - she gets stronger with every album. There's sax added to her usual thing.
Orlando Weeks - I missed this about three weeks ago. The bloke from The Maccabees has made an album about fatherhood. It's nice, not as guitar based as his previous band, a bit Wild Beastsy at times.

New song feat. Kurt Vile, nice...

Khruangbin new album, with vocals, class!

HAIM...wouldn’t say I’ve ever been into them, but the new album I think is really good.

Art Feynman early days but 1st listen very good.

Jess Williamson has a new single out today, pictures of flowers, gorgeous song.

Tengger - ambient warmth, like having a bath in sound. Possibly not for everyone but it's a marvellously engaging album.
Dirty Projectors - I've listened to both the new EP and the one they released in March (which I missed). Both are pretty good but not world changing.
Snowgoose - this is the bunny! Folky indie vibes, wonderfully crafted songs, beautifully performed.
Bananagun - it's very, very good but the reviews suggested more. Australian tropicalia so good time summer vibes to the max.
Khruangbin - this is also the bunny! (maybe a different bunny?) Laidback magnificence from A to Z. 'Connaissais de Face" may be the best thing I've heard this year.

got it on now. It’s great 👍
The Vacant Lots also put a record out yesterday. I had no idea about that either. Big fan of theirs.

It's a real return to form. From the others I've had a listen to over the last couple of days. Grand Veymont is cracking, Khurangbin is just background music but nice, Pottery are okay but I can't see myself returning too much.

For me this weekend.

Pottery
Some great bits but some a bit filler I like it but like @James says I won’t rush back.

Galaxians. Disco / house. Not bad but a bit ‘girly’ ( not being sexist ) for me. Production is good though.

Daniel Avery. Banging.

vacant lots. Only a quick skim so far but sounds great. No change of direction but right up my street of psyche / Mary chain / electronic. Look forward to listening properly tomorrow
