New Music Releases Thread


New single by 5 Billion in Diamonds out today as well, if anyone is interested. I’ve not listened to it yet but their 2017 album was fab.
 
Just listened to the new Darkstar album out today on Warp.
Very good electronica, bit dark with good vocals.

Had a flick through the new Sebastian Tellier record also but it’s a bit poppy for me.
 
There's a Wire album out today, 10:20, that was originally intended as a RSD release - reworkings of outtakes from 2010 (Red Barked Tree) on one side and 2020 (Mind Hive) on the other

Doesn't happen often, but yes.

When everyone was raving about Bowie's last album, I was disappointed. Have hardly listened to it since. I expected the same with the new Dylan (especially on the strength of Murder Most Foul, which I haven't got through to the end of yet), but I listened to the album twice yesterday and three times today. Great songs and many killer lines. Murder Most Foul, fortunately, is relegated to the bonus disc.
 
Apple Music has listed a new Pete Yorn live album, a new Michael Franti and Spearhead record and a new album form my guilty pleasure John Legend.

I hope next week is quiet because my list for this week is getting longer and longer

Owen is on my list for the next few days. Thus far:

Josh Kimbrough: I thought it made sense, in a week of big releases, to start off with some lovely folkish guitar instrumentals. Well worth a listen!
Jockstrap: the new EP is kind of good but kind of unsettling. I've yet to totoally make my mind up about them.
Sebastian Tellier: drab.
Phoebe Bridgers: excellent! She's an exceptional lyricist.
Neil Young: lovely as expected. Really pleased this has seen the light of day.

Don't think I've ever given a potted review of an album with just four letters and a full stop before.

Tellier is drab mate, my four word analysis would have been guff.

Thanks for the reminder been meaning to check this band out since hearing the Texas Sun single. Cracking stuff, played a few of their live gigs online, really like them. Looking forward to next weeks release.

Very much enjoyed Owen, Avalanches. On the repeat list.

Neil Young, couple of duffers, but mostly genius, bit like when Springsteen released the tracks album, how the fk can you not release songs of this quality for so long.

Dylan and Bridgers, can’t get into either.
 
Not really music, but given as this beautiful monster of a thread started with a post about Frightened Rabbit, it seemed as good a place as any - Bands FC are releasing a FRabbit jersey next weekend, one day only, all proceeds going to Tiny Changes. Based on a Hearts kit, badge is a rabbit head, “sponsor” is Tiny Changes. I’d attach a pic but struggling with that on my phone.

Bowie’s last couple are about to be rereleased as a double album named “Emperors New Clothes“.

Dylan is next on my list but I’m inclined to agree on Phoebe Bridgers. Lyrically she’s very good, but the music on this one just feels a bit dull to me. Hoping it’s a grower or just my mood this weekend because I really enjoyed her debut and BOCC.
