New Music Releases Thread

Some decent new releases this week. We have albums from Anna Calvi (redone guest laden versions of some songs from her last album), Body Count, Caroline Rose, CocoRosie, Cornershop, Daniel Davies, Mandy Moore, Moby, Pantha du Prince, Phantogram, Riz Ahmed, Silverstein, Stephen Malkmus, Swamp Dogg, THICK, U.S. Girls, Jonathan Wilson, The Saxophones, The Mastersons, Islet, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Honey Harper, DISQ, Nadia Reid and Luke Haines & Peter Buck.

Mobys gone all ravey again and Pantha du prince has gone ambient but looking forward to both. I was wondering what Anna a Calvi was so will give that a go also.

Malkmus and US Girls jump out

I think Daniel Davies is already out?

Looks a good week - Bodycount, Malkmus, Moby and THICK from your list, and I believe the new Pears album is out tomorrow but I might be wrong.

I think you're right. I just took that from metacritic. They had the new Mark Kozelek thing listed and that came out 3 or 4 weeks back digitally.

You're right. TBH, because punk/hardcore's not particularly my thing, I don't see any releases from the genre unless it gets listed by metacritic (which I guess is down to the label to some degree) or reviewed in Uncut.
Any word on the style of the malkmus album ie is it like the last one

Apparently it's new phase folk music for new phase folks, whatever that may be. Possibly a bit more folky than the last one?

This week for me is mostly about Malkmus, Anna Calvi, Cornershop, Haines/Buck, US Girls, Honey Harper and Nadia Reid.

I've streamed 'Xian Man' (Christian Man) a lot so really looking forward to the new Stephen Malkmus album. I'd lost interest over the years, but he's been in great form over his last couple of albums so I've been eagerly awaiting this one. Here's 3 songs from his new one.

wow didnt realise cornershop were still going, will check that out, interested to hear luke haines & peter buck, give Paul heaton a listen too

Moby isn’t out until 15 May according to Apple Music, which is probably fine since I reckon I would have struggled to get through 4 albums this week.

Amazon is saying the same thing. Metacritic got it wrong, I guess.
I’d read elsewhere that it was today too. I believe Moby self-releases his material these days so chances are he’s been too busy getting horrendous vegan tattoos to get his record ready for release.
