New Music Releases Thread

The latest record is rubbish imo. Saw it live and it just confirmed it to me. It's like she was trying to hard to be epic.

She was crap at the weekend. Heading more down the annoying Florence route of trying to be powerful and simply being annoying.

Unannounced until release day, Dive Dive had a new album yesterday - The Waves Behind - their first album in 8 years. For anyone interested, they're a "post hardcore band" and the 3 of them that don't sing are the people Frank Turner stole for his backup band, hence the hiatus. If that puts anyone off, they sound absolutely nothing like FT - they're more at the Biffy end of punk than the folk end, without sounding anything like the Biff either. Yeah, that was helpful.

Well, no idea what the hell you just said but I'm intrigued all the same. Listening to them now. Opening song, Lion Weight, is already f***ing awesome so I feel good about the album already. Man, this a f***ing great opening song.

 Sorry, reading it back, I didn't do a great job.

Frank Turner, former singer of hardcore band Million Dead, was (and is still, on occasion) a solo folk-punk singer after the band's demise. He gigged with and liked Dive Dive so recruited 3 of the 4 of them to be his backup band (the Sleeping Souls), leaving the DD singer behind. Somehow they've found time to record an album with their old singer - they're classed as post hardcore and sound nothing like Frank Turner, possibly more like Biffy Clyro, but that's debatable. Did I do gooder?

So, first you stir fry the prawns in peanut oil then you add the herbs?

Seen them loads around Oxfordshire back in the day.
