Laura Veirs and Neil Young for me, maybe Megadeth. I’m sure there’s something else out tomorrow that I like but can’t for the life of my think what it is.

I’m not even that bothered about Neil Young, but most of the posters on this thread use Spotify and cant’t stream it, whereas I’m on Apple Music so I’m going to listen to it and declare it the best thing he’s ever released!

It’s a bit of an under the radar one but this is a good album out today

Katy J Pearson’s most recent single was great so I’ll give the album a listen. Might give VB a go, too.

have to say struggling with jess buckley/bernard butler album, bought cd ( I'm old fashioned ) looks like best track by a country mile was one they did on ' later' .

Viagara boys is decent, pretty much their usual sound. The intolerable Jason Williams shows up on yet another record unfortunately though.

My usual weekly digest of the stuff I've been listening to:

Mogwai: they're experts at this TV soundtrack lark now. It's good. The usual mix of incidental pieces and longer more Mogwai-esque tracks.
NoSo: a very, very good sophisticated indie-synth album. Well worth investigating.
Ghost Woman: retro psychedelia replete with jangles and hatmony vocals. Fun without being spectacular.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse: it's a very good album. Not sure why it wasn't released first time up but that's what Neil does. Lots of long, languid tracks.
Laura Veirs: a good album of folkish indie songs. She's been doing this for years. Not sure it gains a new audience.
James Righton: synthy, quite dreamy and laidback. Interesting, needs more listens.
Katy J Pearson: as was mentioned by @James she's not taken any great stylistic leaps from her debut. Song writing is probably more consistent. A good album.
Ian Daniel Kehoe: more laidback synthy songs. Very good, quite poppy songs drenched in analogue synths. He's better known as the touring drummer for The Weather Station, Julia Jacklin and Andy Shauf but is making a good fist of being solo.
The Deslondes: I like this a lot (well, I like them a lot). This is an old school, timeless, laidback take on Americana.
Caterina Barbieri: more synths, this time primarily instrumental. This exists somewhere between neo-classical and motorik.
Metric: their eighth album in almost 20 years. It's good but I'm not sure I would identify it from another Metric album were I to listen to it in say 2 years time.
Mush: more of their angular, British take on American indie rock. Their third album in as many years. Like it but probably not as much as last year's Lines Redacted.
Neighbor Lady: female fronted Americana with artsy edges. Highly promising and maybe a bit more.
Oogo Bogo: a hangover from last week due to @chunkyshitehawk53 recommending it and me spotting Ty Segall's involvement as producer. Garage rock with a bit more synth than you get on a lot of Ty's albums. Good.
Viagra Boys: more of the same really. Sleazy rock and roll with an eye for a pop hook. When they're good, they're very good.
Wu-Lu: I was fairly impressed by them at Green Man last year. A mix of rock, hip-hop, arthouse and angst basically. Some very good songs here.

Album of the week: there's a lot that's good but not so much that's great here. The Deslondes nab it from Wu-Lu, I think. NoSo gets bronze.
