Hate to be a pain in the arse, but LJG’s Stay Alive was October 2020My 10 in no particular order (what's it been with me and female solo artists this year?)
Mogwai - As the Love Continues
Laura Stevenson - Laura Stevenson
Grace Petrie - Connectivity (except the song about Leicester scoring!)
Laura Jane Grace - Stay Alive
Lande Hekt - Going to Hell
Maximo Park - Nature Always Wins
Biffy Clyro - The Myth of the Happy Ever After
Adult Mom - Driver
Teenage Fanclub - Endless Arcade
Remember Sports - Like A Stone
Entry for my daughter - Olivia Rodrigo - Sour (it's very good!)
Stuff that's too recent or I've been too busy to have given a proper go, but suspect they'd have been included - Skinny Lister, Snail Mail, Phil Odgers, Slothrust, Geese
Really? Fuck - I looked at it as well - bought it at the show a couple of months ago and there's no (C) date on it! (My Excel spreadsheet is also wrong)Hate to be a pain in the arse, but LJG’s Stay Alive was October 2020

Tinkermy list of best albums of the year, much delayed...

You should post the long list, it’s always niceIt's my favourite by far. I could mention Mogwai, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Self Esteem, Wasuremono, Richard Dawson & Circle, The Liminans and Laurent Garnier and many others. I suspect that Aeon Station would be well up there had they not released the album daftly late in the year.

I’m listening to Aeon Station right now, it is good
That’s not a bad thingIf I have the time, I will. It'll probably be longer than usual though.

Actually, yes, I'm listening to Snail Mail and I think it's a grower, so swap that one in...tough call though...maybe for Adult Mom or Hatfield at a push, unless I'm allowed an 11...and put Piroshka in the bubbling-unders insteadMy 10 in no particular order (what's it been with me and female solo artists this year?)

I find it absolutely baffling that Snail Mail isn’t on that list at all.The Guardian's 50 best albums of the year are now all listed. Self Esteem at number 1:

I thought it was good. Its got a really nice feel to it. The downside is that, like Status Quo, they seem to be getting to the point where they only have one good song, which is great, but which they keep repeating. I do like the Quo though.I can’t understand how many of these ‘Best Albums of 2021’ (not the SMB) have chosen War on Drugs’ latest effort. I thought it was cringingly bad.
