People's relationships are complicated. When they end there is often bitterness. I don't know the bloke but if I was to believe his statement then I would see that lots of people will be losing their livelihood over this issue which is pretty vague. Even you have chosen to pick out bits of his statement to fit a certain narrative. It appears that may be from your view and the girl who has posted the first tweet that the fact that he has been so militantly feminist is part of this in that its his hypocrisy that is driving this.

As I say I don't know the band particularly but this seems to be a common trend now - the Orwells, Hookworms, T Shirt Weather from Durham all immediately split after accusations - they may all be guilty of abuse and, if so, should be out of the public sphere. However, there is a danger that livelihoods will be lost as a result of accusations which are not followed up by police cases. On occasions the accused may not have done much wrong.

Away from the Hookworms thing, we have this week's releases. They include Dylan's More Blood More Tracks, available as a single disk or super-mega deluxe thing, and albums by Sun Kil Moon, Action Bronson, Barbra Streisand, Bill Ryder-Jones, Dan Mangan, Dead Can Dance, Marianne Faithfull, Moonface, Take Off, Tenacious D, The Prodigy, Touche Amore, Vince Staples and Jon Spencer.

I don't either. They're basically stuck in the late 90s. Alongside those, the Bill Ryder-Jones album should be good.

I think Action Bronson came out today, it suddenly appeared in the “For You” new releases section on my Apple Music and definitely wasn’t there yesterday.

That and Jon Spencer for me this week. Actually, having just googled him I hadn’t realised that Blues Explosion released albums in 2012 and 2015 - I assumed their rarities compilation was the last thing they released.

Not a lot that appeals to me there, this week. Might browse Dan Mangan - picked up a couple of his early albums cheap a few years back and they were ok. Disappointed with Kozelek's stuff recently.

Off to see Twilight Sad tonight so will be able to gauge how their new stuff sounds. Couple of recent singles on Spotify were decent but don't recall anything solid about an album release date - just a "toward the end of the year" thing a while back. Anyone know if there was an official date set?

Sorry GG, was meaning to reply to Arkle's list

18th Jan, assuming the schedule doesn't change.

As an aside, I missed the Boygenius EP last week (digital release only). That's Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus collaborating. The physical version comes out next week.

Another aside, announced a day or two ago that Julien Baker is part of a Scott Hutchison tribute show in Brooklyn in December, along with Craig Finn, Aaron Dessner, and Ben Gibbard (and others) - proceeds going to the Scott Hutchison Fund

I know Matt through friends, and it's difficult to digest as it wasn't something I'd have expected at all. I don't know him that well, but a good mate lived with him for a while and is absolutely shocked by it. That's not to say that nothing has happened or absolve him of anything, I'm in no place to say anything (nor is anyone else other than the involved parties).

I'm more gutted for the lads in the band, I've known their guitarist Sam for years and he's the soundest lad you'll ever meet. Their career was ramping up massively, just about to playa headline show at Leeds Town Hall and they've been fucked through absolutely no fault of theirs whatsoever.

went to see the decemberists on Sunday, they were class as always. They were funny though, they had been travelling for 72 hours straight, had a load of cancelled and delayed flights, only arrived in Dublin 3 hours before the gig and the airline had lost the luggage of three of the band so they were still in the clothes they left in. They were all exhausted but still put on a great show.

I'm off to Uruguay tomorrow so not sure I'll much time to listen to these in the next week but this week we have albums from All That Remains, Architects, Cupcakke, Hanson, Imagine Dragons, J Masic, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, Lil Peep, Mark Knopfler, Muse, Old Wounds, Olly Murs, Rhett Miller, Steve Aoki, Charles Bradley, The Wave Pictures, Benjamin Folke Thomas, Straight Arrows, Liela Moss, Larkin Poe, Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore and Beast.

Of last week's releases, the Marianne Faithfull album is a definite highlight.
