It just reeks of being "I know this bloke, he's canny, let's get him in". We need good people, the best people for the job (that we can attract). Now maybe we've done a full, wide reaching search and the best candidate also just happens, by pure coincidence, to be Methvens mate, but it doesn't fill me full of confidence.
