It must have been one hell of an impressive job interview.

"So your CV looks pretty f***ing awful..."

"You're hired!"

I bet his asking salary quadrupled from start of the interview to appointment.

"Yoooorr going to think Oy'm craaaaaaazy bert how about we go in again for our maaaayyyn maaaaaaaan?"

That was after he’d told them he’d do it for 50 knicker a week plus pies and ale.

 Another top class CV.

Mind trying to look at the bright side and paraphrasing James Hunters, but we have struggled off the field because we have had, no hands on person running things day to day. So this will hopefully help.

Doesnt say much for Donalds and Methvens running of the club though.

"yeah mate, my CV is a bit shite like"
"well I don't think we'll need to discuss any further"
"hang on though, before I go could you please just take a look at my references"
...

A few more quotes

" During a rigorous recruitment process, it gradually became clear that he was the prime candidate to take the club forward.

“His CV put him on our short list. His references from within the game set him apart.

“I hope that Sunderland fans will all join me in welcoming him to our historic club, as we look forward to an exciting few months.”

I’m sure Scunny had one of the biggest wage bills in the league and ended up going down. I know that’s not on him but the club seemed to spend a lot of money with no success to show for it

You don't want to write people off - and getting an ex-footballer regardless of the level he played for is a positive - but you'd love to talk to SD and ask about his vision. Watching STID and seeing us getting 46K against Bradford in League One shows exactly what the fans vision is for the club - we think big. And that shows in very real terms the potential of the club. The appointment of Parkinson and now a CEO who has not exactly shone in his previous roles at lower league clubs suggests that SD is simply way too small and small minded for this club. He talks a good game but delivers very little. And, as we know, it really doesn't take too much to get out of this league. If he'd signed Lyle Taylor all those months ago we'd be up. It strikes me that he will appoint people who will be thankful for the job and not question him or push him.

I think a lot of the angst in this thread stems from this point. Although I'd get shot with shit for saying it.

Not from me. At the moment the goings on at NUFC are an irrelevance precisely because we've just appointed the CEO of a League Two club as our new CEO

If we were looking nailed on to go up to the Champ with a plan of competing there I'd look upon your takeover with a lot more interest!

Pretty sure Sunderland AFC trademarked the phrase 'Let's give him a chance' some years ago, when we appointed Wilkinson. It's been out mantra ever since, usually with less than stellar results.

You are totally incorrect. We are massive for League One - our crowds show that. All we want is someone with a bit of vision to get us out of the League - it really wouldn't take much. Who NUFC get as owners is a mere side show. Of course, we are interested but it is of little consequence. The EPL is jammed packed full of Billionaires - so what?

This seems to be a stock quote on non playing staff appointments.

And an exciting few months. Patronising bollocks.
