NEPL 2022

Interesting to see Ashington 2nd xi fielding a couple of lads who played in the first team on Saturday, for their final today Vs CLS 2nd xi
Yes one of them was first team captain and number 3 batter on Saturday. The other batted at 7.

I’m told it’s all within the rules though.

Whoever has appealed to the league should be utterly embarrassed. Ashington could (probably will be if rules are enforced to the book) be punished for playing positive cricket.
I’ll not cry for Ashington, a member of their club publicly went on Twitter calling the Declaration Format a disgrace after they couldn’t force a win, and that W/L was better. Can’t have it all.

Congratulations to Castle Eden on their promotion to the premier league 👏
Unless I'm mistaken, this doesn't look the case. I know 2nd play 3rd next week, but you can lose a game in the current format and still pick up 8 points. Of course highly highly unlikely that results transpire like that but doesn't appear to be mathematically confirmed just yet.

EDIT: For some reason play cricket have given Shotley 40pts for yesterdays win. Congratulations to Castle Eden, a great rise up the leagues.

2 teams get promoted. Castle Eden are more than 20 points ahead of Shotley Bridge, in 3rd place. You only get 20 points for a win, so Shotley cannot catch them.
21 points ahead to be exact.

It'll be good to see the likes of South North playing at Castle Eden next year.

Will try and pop along on Saturday for a few hours before going down to the Hartlepool game.

Do they automatically go up? I thought that they would have to undergo an inspection first for - junior set ups, club mark, state of the wicket etc.?

Do they not do that anymore?
Interesting game to watch out for on the last weekend of the season - albeit a bit lower down.

In the Sunday League South North play Newcastle. The loser goes down. Have South North ever been relegated at any level of the senior game?

Yes the inspections do still but that is to come into the NEPL pyramid.
Castle Eden have been promoted from Div 1 to Premier Division of the NEPL

Don't think they have, would be interesting to see what team both sides put out for that one, might be a few ringers although South North could still get beat and stay up

If Newcastle win -South North go down?

If Newcastle win -South North go down?

If Newcastle win and get 20pts (would need to be a complete win so bowling South North out) South North would need to get 7 bonus pts to stay up. If Newcastle win and don't bowl South North out I think South north only need a couple of bonus points to stay up.

If you look at the results part of the link you sent you can see the different amount of points teams have been getting to give you an idea
