Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing

Got a stinking cold atm and feeling proper down in the dumps so I flicked the first two episodes of the latest series on to watch from my pit on the settee last night.

They had me laughing like a drain, in between the coughs and splutters.

The hot dogs bit was hilarious. Then Bob goes “would you like onions Paul?” Paul looks a great combination of curious, reticent and downright afraid then Bob pulls out a packet of Cheese & Onion Ringos to crush over the hot dog.

Exactly the type of thing I’d do.

Superb stuff. Couple of lads who’ve got pretty much the same slice of history as me just sat having a natter and a bit of a laugh interspersed with some more reflective bits.

Gone Christmas Fishing takes Paul and Bob to Cahors in the South-West of France where they celebrate another eventful year of fishing together. Under the warm Autumnal French sun, they fish the river Cele and the Lot in search of Mediterranean Bass and huge French Carp.

In this hour-long special programme, they reflect on the highs and lows of the year gone by while pondering what treats the New Year could bring, apart from more fishing of course.

The annual awards ceremony holds more unusual surprises including a very special guest and they stay in an old French Chateau which boasts its own vineyard... could it be any more perfect? Possibly, if fishing dog Ted makes it across the channel and through border control in time to join them for their annual party.

The show ends with a very special video message for Bob and Paul as they take the long way home.

Well that’s the number one on my Christmas TV list.

Incredible that so many friends and family have commented as to why I love my fishing. They kind of get it more now because of watching this superb programme.
It had the lot ❤️

I hope they get into a mahoos catfish that pulls Bob in the watta!

Xmas special 2020 on BBC2 (Boro/N Yorks). Absolutely brilliant. Tears in my eyes as Bobs talked about the death of his dad when he was 6 as he stood outside the family home.
Yup. He could have added a bit of humour about also burning his own house down a couple of years later.
