I shouted “Ya f***ing Donkey” at the telly, in frustration, more than owt else, I didn’t mean it enough to then start lambasting him on social media

Aye, it was cack, and I honestly think in that position, I’d have not done any worse….but, he’s a young kid learning his craft and surely being shite is part of that in any job.

There’s a portion of our fans who seem incapable of being realistic in terms of expectations of the club and how the young developing team performs.

I remember Clarke being written off in his first season, Jobe too….not a mentality I possess thankfully as must be hard work being that joyless.
 
He's decent and still very young, he needs time, however when he gets in good positions it doesn't surprise me when they amount to nothing. There's something he's lacking, that bit of composure and his control at times isn't there. I'm unsure if that part of his game will improve.

At the end of the day, he scores that goal yesterday and he wins us the game and is a hero, that's the different between a top player and an average one. The frustrating thing is, he didn't even get a shot in, he could have toe poked it, anything. To think he just basically ran it into the keeper after having the time to slot it in, he'd blitzed the defender.

He doesn't deserve abuse mind.
 
Think the young lad has plenty of good attributes. He's struggling at LW tho, but that's no fault of his. The last few games when he's been switched to his striker role, he's looked much more comfortable and far more dangerous.

We need to bring someone in for that left wing position or Mundle back ASAP.
 
Always found it interesting that players get more stick for missing chances than they would do if they never get them.

He should have done better, I mean he'll know that more than anyone, but plenty of other players wouldn't have even got on the end of it in the 90th minute.

Similar to the Ba miss against Preston earlier in the year, if he doesn't get on the end of it, there'd be nothing mentioned about it at all, and there's been plenty of balls whipped in that our wide players haven't attacked.

Obviously looking at the chances in isolation mind.
 
He worries the fullbacks and is direct, fast and strong which is good.
His decision making and technical ability are questionable. Hopefully these improve.

Agree he did well to make the run and showed confidence initially taking a couple of decent touches, but took too long to decide what to do and the chance just fizzled

Knew straight away there’d be people giving him abuse online.

He’s good at bursting forward & can play a bit
He’s not a finisher
 
He does try and has something about him but the decision making is letting him down badly.

That yesterday though, through on goal, a player to his left to square it to win the game, he just ran straight at the keeper. I’m struggling to work out what the plan was. He could have got a shot away, chipped him, went right, no idea why he just ran straight into the goalkeeper. Was like he didn’t know what to do, and as a footballer, you can either instinctively finish or you can’t. You can’t train that.

People are going a bit overboard with the criticism like.

Aye, it was a shocking error - he shouldn’t have tried to take it round the keeper but he’s young and was likely knackered.

Its a learning curve for him, next time he’s one on one - he won’t do that again.

Mistakes happen. Move on.

Hes 19....

Hes going have a bad game here and there

Hes learning ... he needs to learn from his experiences
 
That one on one won’t define the lad and overall he had a decent game prob a 7/10 imo. Main thing people aren’t happy about is you have to work the keeper and make him save it as a minimum in those positions. Work needed but a decent player
 
Weird to slag off a 19 year old who is covering for injured players and is still very raw. He does some good things, some shit things. Inconsistent because inexperienced.

This is a good point, and it’s something he needs to work on.

Watmore was similar when he started games for us in the prem (obviously a better young talent than Mayenda was), but was doing the same thing with not looking up enough.

Ba kept doing it for us last season too.
