Mayenda discussion thread

Not hate for me, but he should have done better with the one on one and is poor as a left winger. In his defence, he is not a left winger. He looks lost out there, doesn't seem to know where he should be going and his indecision is leading to him losing the ball a lot. Also means he is not linking up with Cirkin how he should.

With Rigg out, I'd be looking at seeing what Aouchiche can do out there and bring Mayenda more central either as the striker with Wilson behind as an attacking central midfielder, or the other way round.

No hate here but a striker at any age and at any level should at least do something there. He has the options of sidefooting it low into the near corner, lifting it or going round the keeper. To do none of them was very poor and imo, he needs to be doing nothing in training the next couple weeks (or staying back after) other than one-on-one with keepers to improve his confidence and composure as he’ll get more of those with his pace and we can’t afford to lose out on points because of it.

Ridiculous the comments I’ve seen over the last 24 hours. Calling him shite , useless etc.
Was obviously poor when he went 1 on 1 but the lad defo has talent.

Always forward thinking. Brave when he gets the ball and tries to make something happen every time.

Felt really sorry for him at full time. Was scared to even come over to the Sunderland fans. Thought he had a good game overall.

Keep ya head up son and keep doing what your doing 👏👏
He is short sighted and denied us the ultimate scenes. He is being paid to miss. He gets more time but what the hell do they coach them?

Horrible horrible miss. But it happens.

Thought @MackeminGlasgow had a good take on this on the What The Falk podcast.

What’s interesting to me about is that we seem to have fashioned a few of these rapid breakaway one on ones across the season. More than I see from other teams. It’s really quite good. If only we could score from them!!

Aleksic miss at Millwall. Isidor miss last week. Mayenda did score from a similar opportunity at Portsmouth. Isidor scored from the one at Hull. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t.

People are going a bit overboard with the criticism like.

Aye, it was a shocking error - he shouldn’t have tried to take it round the keeper but he’s young and was likely knackered.

Its a learning curve for him, next time he’s one on one - he won’t do that again.

Mistakes happen. Move on.

I’ve watched it back, I don’t think he knows Adil is running up in support.

I didn’t notice ow chichy (as the announcer called him) screaming for it mind

The reactive comments on the match thread were toxic like. Young lad makes mistake, we will probably see a few more before the seasons out.

Hideous mate. Young lad working his stones off for the side week in week out and at left wing too. He's obviously not number one choice striker or left wing but has shown he can be effective in our attacking line up. Guess he keeps playing until Watson or Mundle are back.

Bloody hell man...he's not a boo boy at all. People are just saying he should have done much better with his one on one.
The criticism is well short of boos but a lot on here saying he isn’t good enough when he has barely started a handful of games are way over the top - the lads confidence will be drained by these so called supporters 🙄
He shows a hell of a lot of promise imho

I like him. Aye, young and raw, but there's a player there and I look forward to seeing how he develops.
