So does anyone, if he was rumoured to be signing for anyone in the championship I'd not believe it, he's obviously on crap money at Bournemouth

Although you might not like to accept it. Newcastle (and Aston Villa) have a much bigger pull than any other team in the championship for obvious reasons. And on top of that they paid enough money.

So they did have a chance, as it is happening.

Why would I not accept it? They are the biggest clubs in the championship, but all things being equal no player would leave the prem to sign for them unless they were getting a pay rise or more game time, why are you struggling to understand that? It sounded daft that he'd sign so we took the piss, he's going to sign so it's obviously about money or playing time. Newcastle have just lost their best player to crystal palace if you would like an analogy to show how being a big club in the championship effects players, and I'd bet townsend is getting paid the same to move.

You've been made to look foolish.

You said they had no chance of signing him and took the piss, now he's signing it's 'he's being overpaid, they've paid too much for him'.

Stop squirming and take your medicine.

This thread man . The transition on page 4 when it looks like he might actually sign :oops:

A good signing imo, he will be a lot more effective in the Championship than the inevitable tossers who will be expected to leave the mags this summer (Andros asides).

You have no idea, man.

Still think winning a tournament is underperforming?
Throw some other alternatives out there as to why he may have signed other than a greatly increased wage. Warning, suggesting it's because you're such a massive club that the drop in league is irrelevant or that the draw of Rafa the Gaffer or 55,000 screaming Geordies is too much for a player to resist will have you dubbed as deluded.

I never said they've paid too much for him and I didn't start the thread, I didn't expect he'd drop a division and the reason for that is money.

Shorter commute for when he plays for Scotland. Winner Winner.

Can't imagine that if Premier League clubs were really interested in him they couldn't afford to match whatever wages we are prepared to pay.

Must be more to it than just cash. Perhaps promises of game time, perhaps the structure of the deal, perhaps promises of a certain caliber of signed/retained player, perhaps working with Benitez, perhaps playing in front of 52,000 skreemin jawdees ;)

Decent player but i am over the fooking moon Townsend has left them, he is a very good player and did a good job of trying to keep them up by himself

I'm chuffed Townsend is gone too, would have walked that league and the weaker they are the better.
