Very easy article to put together without actually taking any time to check whether what is put to print says anything we don't already know. "Identify and secure" Moyes....ffs Short had asked him before Allardyce, he was out of work and was obviously the primary target.

As regards Allardyce losing patience over a lack of signings....why the fuck would you allow an outgoing manager to spend the little money that was available for transfers when he wouldn't be here after signing them.

The challenge Bain faced was sizeable....no getting away from it, but he and his fellow Glaswegian have made it immeasurably worse with their decisions since.

The "£25m deficit" was wiped out with the £25m extra tv money and the wage bill was shorn of £15m from bit part players. It was an opportunity to make a fresh start which was squandered and the rush to apportion blame anywhere but where it actually lies is embarrassing.
Fair enough, but Allardyce had not been able to secure signings long before England came calling.

Also the net spends is actually rather low, Just over 30M in outgoings (and that is when you use the full value of N'Dong, when some say only a couple of million has actually been paid) and 29M in monies coming in (of course that also relies on the full fee for PVA being counted)

Sam was annoyed he wasn't getting what he wanted before England came knocking man.

You really think the process of appointing an England manager starts when he gets an interview. He was mentioned as a forerunner well before pre-season started and on that basis it would have been foolish to allow him to spend our transfer budget. You can already see the fallout on here over Ndongkey and Papy who are said to have been Allardyce targets.....can you imagine the furore if he'd spent the lot on shite and ended up keeping another club up at our expense. It was the right decision. The fact that Moyes wasted the money is immaterial as he can be held culpable.

The way I see it is that the initial spend was wasted and that coupled with the worst start ever by a PL club probably did for his chances of getting any more to spend in January. Burnley did the same with Dyche...gave him a modest amount (less than Moyes got) in the summer but allowed him to spend a substantial further amount in January after a solid start.

The timing seemed more to coincide with the club being openly up for sale, and came amidst organisational cutbacks and redundancies.

Whichever way you cut it (and the club was in touching distance in January, so splashing 30M like Palace may have made a big difference) a 1M net spend does not cut it when there has been such drastic transfer fee inflation. I mean, Moyes was not wanting to sell PVA, but was forced to due to the player and the size of the fee offered.

There is far more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye...

A lot of what you say is fair comment but it still comes down to risk and reward. If we'd been 14th and half a dozen points clear of third bottom I suspect the risk/reward ratio was sufficient to allow further investment. However, we weren't so the suns didn't add up and if he had been given more in January he might have signed even more shite on fat contracts than he did with Gibson and Oviedo.

Gibson is past it, but I think Oviedo will turn out to be a good signing

We could have used the money we spunked on gibson to pay moyes off. The squad wouldn't be noticeably weaker as gibson is about as useful as tits on a fish, and financially we'd be better off as neither of the fuckers would be stealing a wage on the payroll.

What - 500K?

When she was there, we stayed up. Now we aren't.

I'm not saying she was directly responsible for that, but when people said she did a bad job they tended to not have a foundation for that.
she did a bad job, it's pretty f***ing obvious.
