Marijuana

You're confusing dependence with addiction

Marijuana isn't a physically addictive substance but a tiny percentage of people can become dependent

I think there is a very fine line between addiction and dependency with some substances, to the point that both terms are used interchangeably these days.

An addiction to crack cocaine is not a physical one, but to say crack cocaine addiction doesn't exist, or that crack isn't an addictive substance, would be absurd.

And if the distinction between the two is that a physical addiction results in physical withdrawal symptoms upon cessation, as opposed to 'just' psychological withdrawal symptoms, then I can see a forthcoming change of opinion when it comes to cannabis.

I'm not going to deny that a lot of the agitation is of a psychological nature. But I think there is a physical side as well. The headaches, the insomnia, the perspiration etc, are physical, and are classed as physical symptoms when seen in opiate withdrawal etc.

If we are to make a distinction between physical and psychological addiction, then I don't think cannabis should be put in the same category as say porn addiction, or as you would call it, porn 'dependency'.

If you forced someone to toke 3 grams of weed every day for a month (against their will) then I think you would have some people complaining of physical withdrawal symptoms upon cessation.

But regardless as to whether I am right or wrong on the physical addiction of cannabis, there is no doubting that it can be an addictive drug, in the same way that cocaine is an addictive drug, despite cocaine not being physically addictive.

I think there is a very fine line (if you pardon the pun) between addiction and dependency, to the point that they are used interchangeably.

It is legal in 10 U.S states now after last nights elections, not just for medicinal purposes but recreationally.

It is now legal to smoke weed in cities such Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle and Detroit.

Surely it won't be long till it's legal in the rest of the western world? I certainly would be for legalising it, selling it in cafes and taxing it.

In the interest of balance I have included this short trailer demonstrating how evil weed is.
"You will see the ease with which this vicious plant can be grown in your neighbours yard, rolled into harmless looking cigarettes"
It should be "ILLEGAL TO SMOKE" end of , never mind weed.
