Great news. That’s massive money for league one, no excuse not to reinvest now either. Him sludging on for the season knowing we will only get pennies in the summer would have been awful for the morale of the club.

We should never have been in a situation where the new owners were coming into a club with so many promising youngsters coming towards the end of their contracts.

Gooch, Maja, Asoro, Embleton, Hume etc.

For the past few years we seemed to be happy handing out big contracts to players who didn’t want to be here, or bringing in other clubs youngsters while forgetting about our own.

And while we were doing all of that we weren’t even sending our kids out on loan for experience or to test them.

Our owners walked into an absolute shit fest saying the “youth” was only a small problem in the grand scheme of it all...
That's another good point that's been overlooked.

Depends on the upfront although it'd be suicidal to not replace him.

So we are losing a 16 goal striker and young talent for £3.5m over a few clauses and bonuses being met?

Hope Grigg signs or this will be another massive loss in January like last season.

BREAKING: Josh Maja is on the verge of joining French club Bordeaux for a deal that will rise to £3.5m.
The two clubs are haggling over the fine details of the deal. Personal terms will not be an issue.
....but.....but......but......no one's gonna pay that sort of money for him in January when they can wait 6 months and get him for free :lol::lol:

Cracking deal, get shot.

there was little to suggest Campbell or mcmanaman would down tools, but they did. it's been pretty imperative to get players intent on leaving out of clubs be it permanently or on loan when contracts are running down and they're not fighting for another as it can cause problems and unrest be it the players downing tools, fans questioning and team mates questioning. we don't need anymore disruptions or questioning, so for me he needs to go now if he's going, it's caused too many problems already. we're simply not strong enough to cope with it.
Did McManaman ever 'up tools'?

It's not his goals that I'm concerned about losing, it's his conversion rate.

We don't create many chances and haven't all season. From what I've seen in League One from other sides there's not many (/any) players about at this level that create something out of nothing for themselves and tend to score the majority of chances presented to them. We're going to need to have a fundamental change or improvement in the way we play or i think we'll definitely struggle to replicate our results from the first half of the season.

not sure the French league is the best move for him mind but can't really blame him for moving. done well to get £3.5m if true

now if we'd stop f***ing about and get the Will Grigg deal sorted i don't think we'll miss his goals

Complete no brainer.

If he’s decided he’s going to leave and go abroad, then the tribunal fee we’d get in the summer would be minimal. £3.5m is a lot of money at our level. More importantly, if any player doesn’t want to play for us, they can fuck off. Gone are the days - I hope - when a centre forward with 15 senior career goals (only one of which above the third tier) can take the piss, or act like he’s doing us a favour by turning out on a Saturday.

Maja out, two in who actually want to play for SAFC.

Need to reinvest the money into a team that don’t require ridiculous conversion rates to win games. Starting with height and pace in the middle, a blind man on a galloping horse could see it’s a massive problem. Need to put a side together that can dominate games of football at this level and win them now. No excuses.
