I really like the lad and in many ways can't blame him but the Sunderland fan in me hopes he's sat on benches of random clubs for the next 5 years wondering what might have been.

If he goes there I’ll respect his decision

He’ll get game time and money

If he’d gone to the premier I’d think less of him as he isn’t ready and would be stuck in the reserves.

People saying he’ll go the same way as Asoro, Maja stick around and took his chance, fair play.

Or a chance to play in a different country, with a decent chance of playing and developing against some very good teams rather than warming the bench as he certainly would in the premier league. Perhaps money isn't the be all to him? Fair play to to the lad if so. He's scored a decent amount for us and has always put the effort in. He'll take some replacing, even at this level. There's no one at the club currently who can step in that's fairly certain from what we've seen. Time for the new owners to walk the walk
I think my main thing is with the French league really. Very much second tier in terms of standard.

I totally disagree with the first half of what you say and couldn't agree more with teh second half. He's not been truthful to the management team or the owners - if he really wanted to sign then he would have. What has happened instead is it's been dragged out for weeks, with him moving very close to the end of the window instead, and probabl one of the worst moves for the club business-wise. He's looked after himself and no-one more, and in that regard is nothing better than the loads of players that traipse through here on their way elsewhere. Fuck him, I hope his career is shite from here on.

BREAKING: Josh Maja is on the verge of joining French club Bordeaux for a deal that will rise to £3.5m.
The two clubs are haggling over the fine details of the deal. Personal terms will not be an issue.

Exactly my thoughts, if he came out and said he was off it would have hurt but we'd have replaced him already. Fannying on is the reason it's getting this reaction. Hope he rots.
