We need to win marra and while he's still at the club trying his best he's our best chance of scoring goals. We shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face.

Think of the team. The other players putting it all in . Maja will HAVE to look after himself now and it will stand out a mile.

It’s a tweet coming straight from him, unless he runs it past people within the club first

Just think somethings need a bit of time to think about regarding a response

Not saying he will but something like this could happen after he’s a had a few glasses of wine, could end up saying anything

Could be being a fanny here mind obvs
I think with anything he could be right or wrong. There will have been other times when he could have tweeted and has refrained. I think as the agent has told Sky first that Maja won't be signing before telling the club then he needs to be called out on it - agents need to be told they have to work in a professional manner, when Rodwell left Donald rightly said how professional Rodwell and his agent had been on dealing with his departure. He may have made a mistake over this one but I highly doubt it and I would far prefer to know what he has said. Additionally, when a PR person gets involved the truth and the point can often be lost in 'PR speak'.

You make a fair point, it’s now down to the club replacing Maja with someone who will bang in 12-15 goals from now till the end of the season. If they do this with a fully committed player that would be better for the dressing room. However, if they fail to do this and let Maja go now, then it’s backfired big style.

Yep selling him now would mean swapping a bang in form striker on course for scoring 30 with us in a familiar set up for one we hope will score at the same rate. One we hope has a good attitude. One we hope fits in with the squad. One we hope settles. There’s not a particularly big pool of players to choose from and we will spend any money received for Maja on his replacement, that if we still achieve promotion will still need replacing anyway.

Massive needless gamble when we already have someone scoring for fun.

In truth if I were him I'd wait until the end of the season before making a decision and suspect most of us would. He's just had possibly his best game for us and no one questioned his commitment then. I presume his agent had already suggested he shouldn't sign by then, in real terms nothing has really changed other than the club having a slightly clearer indication of his intentions to base any decision on incoming bids upon.

It wouldn't like. Loads of players give their all while knowing they will leave. I recall the reception Diouff got at Bolton last game of the season when he'd run his contract down....they loved him.

As it happened he came here and was a nightmare. It's not all so easy to predict.

Diouff was by then a rich man. Maja isn't. He has made nowt yet and is twenty. If he gets crocked now he is working somewhere, anywhere in a couple of years.

You f***ing would have like.

Should have offered him what he wanted. Small time from the club. Wanker's got the club for nowt, etc.

They offered him what you and he wanted. Didn't make any difference. Blarn.

Owners fault, Maja and his agent asked for x amount and Donald agreed the fuckin bastard!

Unless the deal with another club is stay where you are till the end of the season he really has to be a doubt to play. Massive show of no desire to stay by not signing the deal.

If he doesn’t leave in Jan, then frankly I’d let him rot for the remaining 5-6 months of his contract. He doesn’t want to be here

That's up to JR to decide. He'll see what he's like and I'll trust his decision.

There's also a view that he might want to play even better than he is already to get the best move he can possibly get when he moves. It could be a good motivator for him.

He has no option now but to cosset himself. He has earned nowt yet, and if he gets a bad knock now, he may never do so.

Well he's 20 actually. :p

That a side though, he's a young kid, who is obviously looking to get as much money as he can, his agent is helping him do that and he doesn't have any real ties to the club.

I can't blame him, i'd do the same, however i think the decision has been his and it's his agent that is taking the fall as it will only help Maja get a better deal elsewhere.

He's perfectly entitled...but should be nee where near the team now....

Not sure Donald should be publicly throwing his agent under bus. Also not sure why we're playing this out in the media & this deadline really hasn't worked on our favour.

Poorly handled
Agree he shouldn't be throwing the agent under a bus. A challenger 3 tank would be much better. I firmly believe the antics of these parasites should be fully exposed at every available opportunity. If anyone has hoyed the agent under road transport here it's Maja because he hasn't got the balls to own the decisions he's made.

His agent wont have called him last night and told him not to sign. He will have been telling him for months so nothing effectively has changed bar half the fan base hating him because they feel rejected.

Hate this ridiculous deadline has forced for no apparent reason.

We won’t replace him. You can’t replace goal scorers like him. We tried when Bent left and failed. We tried when Grabban left and failed and we’ll fail if we try to replace Maja. Could massively derail our season this.

It could be. But make no mistake, things are different today than they were yesterday. He will have his orders from his agent to look after himself.

All those saying he won't be committed and should be dropped....

If Josh Maja finishes the season as league one top scorer and we get promoted on the back of it he will likely be able to get a better contract than if he doesn't score another goal between now and then.

There is plenty incentive for him to keep doing the business, it's up to JR to determine if he's the sort to down tools. I don't think he is, but I don't work with him every day and neither does anyone else on here.

Too many eager to cut their nose off to spite their face.

Club has to take a stance after all it’s said. Sends wrong message to play him. Damaging to the club, he has effectively fucked us off. Get rid and leave him out of the first team squad till he’s gone. He’s made his choice, and that choice is he doesn’t want to play for SAFC
