Bordeaux manager seems to think he might struggle with the physical nature of the French league. How he develops in the game will be determined by his ability to adapt to physical challenges and if he’s prepared to graft more during games.

He’s an excellent finisher, although not proven beyond the third tier of English football, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be as effective against better defenders and goalkeepers.

It will be really interesting to see how he gets on - I genuinely hope he succeeds but I can’t help thinking he’ll be back in English football in a couple of years with a far healthier bank balance but without a great deal of first team experience to show for it.

I am convinced he will always score goals like, just don't think he will miss many chances, that will carry him far, he can pick up a lot of the stuff as he goes

I am very disappointed he is leaving but will follow his career with interest, hope he does well, respect him for going abroad. I know his agent is probably a bit of a dick, should have handled it better but if you look at his stable, he is trying to get his players abroad and playing, its good for young English players and good for the game IMO.

it's a win win for him really.

Good luck to him for giving it ago abroad. worse happens he returns to UK as you say, with plenty of cash and pretty much a guaranteed next pay day with clubs who know he can score at this level

It's a win win for his agent. I don't believe for one moment that Maja has looked around and decided to test himself abroard. He is doing what he is told, but as you say, two bites of the cherry for them both.

Probably the first thing I’ve ever agreed with you on.

Be a silly move if he is sitting on the bench or the reserves.

However also this

It's a risk for JM at this time of his career.

It's simply a payday for his Agent

If it goes tits up JM should sue his agent in a PPI type of way

He also said he isn’t quite ready for first team football a

Hope he rots in their second team

Still got that feeling he will not go he will run his contract down and leave for nothing to get a signing on fee this is about sheer greed not football he does not give a dam if he hurts this club in the process.

Do you really think this is the move maja wants? This is all about his agent

He’s had sound advice from everyone and anyone....players...staff...asoro

And he’s decided to go against his own judgement to get his agent a payday simple and that

This isnt a Football move....

I massively agree and it’s a huge shame but I’d take the money for doing nowt too.

He hasn't gone for money like, its a big club and a great opportunity to be playing top flight football for a team fighting for europe.

Sure he could have got a gig at a premier league side as a squad player if he wanted money.

I think people forget a couple of things

1) we are in league 1
2) we aren’t in a position to offer big wages
3) the club has been a complete disaster for all of his time here
4) he has earned a relative pittance thus far in what is a short career

He’s being offered more money (presumably) to play for a top division club that may get European football

He may struggle for games initially but I struggle to see how anyone can criticise him for

1) wanting to earn more money. This isn’t an already stinking rich Gyan going to UAE
2) having some ambition

Could it have been handled better? Yeah. But it’s hardly unique. And he has played and scored whilst he has been here

I wish him well, he seems a decent lad

i think the bordeaux manager said he isnt ray for first team there..
ont think there was much premier league interest..

He is doing what is agent tells him. His agent told him his family back home (in south london!) would get a nice little 6 figure dropsie if he moved, a sum they wouldn’t have got if he had stayed at Sunderland - that was the deciding factor apparently

Sounds like his new manager hasn’t got a clue about him. This move just gets more and more bizarre from his point of view.

I’d be surprised if he’s not regretting this move by the end of the season.
