Maddest football opinions

My perennial favourite was that KLD was transferring our best players and placing the proceeds direct into his mothers bank account
2 years of my Dad and brother ramming this down my throat twice a week, sell everyone as the first offer etc. Genuinely baffling behaviour at the time and refused to listen to any sense

Hume not good enough for the PL (guilty myself). He ended the season with the 3rd most minutes on the pitch behind Roefs and ELF and we qualified for the Europa League.
Maddest football opinions ive heard are from Infantino

1. That FIFA ahould issue a "peace prize"
2. It should go to Trump

Never met anyone else who agreed

Most likely a financial decision to be fair...

The Rangers/Celtic thing I do find weird, especially on flags. Ive seen it at non league matches too. Flags with a non-league club badge and an Old Firm one too.

I kind of get having two clubs in some cases if theres a connection. I have a soft spot for Malaga. One of my favourite cities, I go almost every year and when ive been, Ive always taken in a game and been made to feel really welcome. Probably seen 6 or 7 matches over the years

Im not a Malaga fan, but my lad does have a shirt and keeps an eye on their scores. But id never have an SAFC/Malaga shared flag.

Likewise theres lads on this site who live in Bilbao but are MLFs. No problem in that. Why wouldn't you support your local club if you cant get to Sunderland all that often

Its the weird love of big foreign clubs people have no link to that I dont get.

The Celtic / Rangers thing is very forced imo. For some reason, some people think they need to pick one or the other.

Thought Howard Wilkinson was the manager/coach to take us onto bigger and better things and went onto a local radio phone in to say so.
Oh well.

Cool story eh?

I noticed Henderson had 'time' quite early in his Sunderland career. All good midfielder have it, Xhaka and Le Fee for example. Hopefully Sadiki will continue to grow too.

Colback and Meyler were work horses, no real class.

How do you have time? You find space to receive the ball, your first touch is immaculate not allowing anyone to think they can pinch the ball. Then you have options, to play it quickly, to hold it, to carry the ball, to go left or right. The defender can't easily close you down because he has no idea what you are going to do.

Colback's first touch was OK, but he was very left footed closing down his options. He never had time like Henderson.

Le Fee and Sadiki are a bit different. They always keep the ball moving to avoid challenges, to give themselves time to pick a pass. Xhaka just glides through the game not unlike Henderson but it is easier to do it playing deeper where the pitch is less congested.
Harsh on Meyler I reckon. He wouldn't have reached Henderson's level but he could've become a solid Prem midfielder if it wasn't for two serious knee injuries at a crucial development point in his career. He looked a really good prospect when he first came through. Colback was definitely limited though.

My Scottish team is St. Johnstone based on nothing more than a cracking season with them in one of the first "championship manager" games.

Always raises an eyebrow when im asked who my "Scottish club" is. Couldn't give a toss about the old firm
