For any one driving south I've just been reliably informed that these live speed cameras are going fully active today.. motorway limit 70 mph but these cameras are set at 72 mph with an automatic 6 points penalty sent out. If your caught doing 90 mph and its automatic ban.....

    for info ......

I don't see how that can be correct.

only what I've been informed by a friend down there. It doesn't seem to have been published to the locals

Seen this on Facewank, so I immediately assumed it was bollocks.

Surely they're already built in with the 10% correction ???

I know that fines can be higher on motorways, but 6 points for going 3mph over the 70 is completely unbelievable.

Sentencing guidelines say that where it is a 70 limit and your speed is 71-90 the sentencing range is Band A fine and 3 points.

the letter i got from north yorkshire police (was done doing 80 on the A1(m)) this time last year said you would be offered a speed awareness course if you were doing 79mph to 86mph in a 70 mph speed limit...

i took that to infer that if you were doing 78 in a 70 (motorway) you'd not get done...

  13. It's Facebook bollocks spawning all over.. I've had it 5 times today

They have never pulled at 80mph as long as driving conditions are fine and you are not driving like a nugget

Who reliably informed... I want facts

When is this money grabbing madness going to end? Why don’t they just go the whole hog and limit all cars to the speed limit automatically?

  15. From what I can see there is a section of Smart motorway in Derbyshire that will always be active

Nah, brother got caught at 106mph at 2am in the morning driving back from barracks. Didn't even go to court. 6 points

Sounds bollocks to me, they'd be no cars on the road shortly if everyone doing 72mph got points. Aside from the massive amount of admin it would cause, they couldn't cope with it.

  19. In that case I would have had several letters by now driving up and back for Christmas. Keep under 80 and you're fine.

This 72mph bollocks has been reported before over the past few years.

    A common misconception.

It's actually court for anything 96mph+
