Lyndon Gooch

I disagree, I think it's good to celebrate committed players regardless of them being paid. I also think it sets a good precedent. Existing players will appreciate that they too can gain the favour of fans and players who consider joining will understand that we support our players both present and past.

It's amazing how quick some on here are to pour cold water on anything remotely positive
I don’t think people saying a good round of applause for the lad and a warm welcome is pouring cold water on anything positive. The lad was a loyal servant and has always gave his best for the club of which the majority of fans are appreciative of. He will be fond.y remembered and will always remain a fan of the club as well. That’s positive isn’t it.

Why don’t you make a wooden puppet for him and present it to him before the game?

Fancy helping me do it mate? Sounds like a cracking project.

We have a few flags for past players, would be good to have one for Gooch. I think he exemplified everything good in a player considering how many mercenaries we've had here over the years.

Lynden Gooch on Tuesday nights game:

“I think the Sunderland game is one that they are going to want to win. I’ve checked their result and they got beat today (Saturday), so they are going to want to put that right. Obviously, it’s a chance for players who might not have played the first two games of the Premier League to get some minutes and show what they can do.

“It’s going to be difficult. They are obviously a top side, they got promoted to the Premier League for a reason, but it will be nice to go back there on a personal note.

“I was an academy player and it meant an awful lot to me to put that shirt on every week. I think I transmitted onto the pitch what they want from one of their own, although I wasn’t born there, I embodied what the Sunderland fans are all about. During some really difficult and dark times in the club’s history, I tried to give my best and stayed there as long as I could to help try get the club back where they want to be, and luckily they are there now.”
