Awake. "I woke up."What does the term "woke" mean in relation to Lyndon Gooch?
20 people with their tops off and painted on the bellyJust get a massive 'G', 17 'O's, and a 'C' and 'H' and make people hold them up across the entirety of the East Stand.
I celebrated the win, then a few hours later felt I’d let myself down. How a club like Sunderland even competed in that hideous competition shows you how
Far gone we were
Got your point but it’s not a hideous comp though. It’s the top chance of Wembley and silverware at that level. I’ve often said the league cup should stop at champ level. It’s not as if you get a champions league spot for winning it. I’d even go as far to say it should still retain a europa league spot given the gulf between divisions nowHow a club like Sunderland even competed in that hideous competition shows you how

One of the best goals you'll see. Absolute corker.Random one but that chip he scored away to Sheffield utd when Dan Neil got sent off was absolutely beautiful
And played shit to help us win. Always a Mackem. He got a good reception against Stoke one year iirc
Good servant
The club's website has it down as a midnight kickoff, I think they'd be lucky to even get 10k if it kicks off at midnightWould look shite in a crowd of 10k
Don’t be silly, he was an employee that reached the end of his useful time here and was moved on, the over the top sentimentality towards some ex players is crackers.I never felt as though we give the lad the send off he deserved before he left.
Would be class to get a banner or flag sorted for him when he returns with Huddersfield. He absolutely loved/loves SAFC.

Absolutely no reason for this to make me teary eyed. Loved gooch say what you want never gave less than 100% and absolutely loves the club.
I would say he was a very good servant of the club and loyal. He will no doubt be welcome back as a guest anytime at the club and will always be remembered for being one of those players who no matter their ability gave his absolute best. Players like that deserve a warm welcome and a round of applause which he got by the way, but flags and stuff is too far.
If we’d had 11 players that cared and tried as much as he did during the time he was with us, we wouldn’t have sunk as low as we did.Whilst almost everyone else tried to force their way out of the club. Players like honeyman who tried to engineer an exit, mcnair etc who couldn't wait to get away. Gooch was the least of our problems
