Lyndon Gooch

Just saw that, pure class that. I thought he could’ve played a part the season we let him go tbh. Will be nice to give him a nice welcome home.

How a club like Sunderland even competed in that hideous competition shows you how
Far gone we were
Got your point but it’s not a hideous comp though. It’s the top chance of Wembley and silverware at that level. I’ve often said the league cup should stop at champ level. It’s not as if you get a champions league spot for winning it. I’d even go as far to say it should still retain a europa league spot given the gulf between divisions now

I never felt as though we give the lad the send off he deserved before he left.

Would be class to get a banner or flag sorted for him when he returns with Huddersfield. He absolutely loved/loves SAFC.
Don’t be silly, he was an employee that reached the end of his useful time here and was moved on, the over the top sentimentality towards some ex players is crackers.

Anyone with anything negative to say on this needs to get a grip like. The lad represented our club like a fan. Heart on sleeve, could never be accused of not trying. He’s a Sunderland lad through and through and deserves the recognition of years of doing everything he could for us. Not being an elite level player doesn’t come in to it.

I disagree, I think it's good to celebrate committed players regardless of them being paid. I also think it sets a good precedent. Existing players will appreciate that they too can gain the favour of fans and players who consider joining will understand that we support our players both present and past.

It's amazing how quick some on here are to pour cold water on anything remotely positive

I would say he was a very good servant of the club and loyal. He will no doubt be welcome back as a guest anytime at the club and will always be remembered for being one of those players who no matter their ability gave his absolute best. Players like that deserve a warm welcome and a round of applause which he got by the way, but flags and stuff is too far.

Absolutely no reason for this to make me teary eyed. Loved gooch say what you want never gave less than 100% and absolutely loves the club.

What a legend, hadn't even seen that when I made the original post. Some on here really need to give their heads a shake.

A flag is too far? A flag? It could be reused and include a quote of his.
