If you are chasing your first title in 600 years why do you set a target of 360?

Ah, the nuances of the well timed declaration ;-)

They probably are hedging their bets a bit, if they can't win, which was odds against even if they set a target, they'd sooner be 11 points behind than 14 going into the last game.

16 points behind if they draw

Damn, you're right, which makes it even more imperative to make sure they get the 3, especially if they also had an eye on the weather.

They are fucked old chum

As good as handed it to Warks

RSP anyway

Soon as I say that they get a wicket

I'm sure they realised the writing's on the wall, the fat lady's warming up the vocal cords. This is a pitch where they just scored 353-3 at 4½, they maybe just think this gives them the best chance of winning the title, even if it's a slim one. Setting a gettable target and winding up 19 behind going into the last game would definitely have been handing it to Warks.

It's all about percentages.

Lancashire need to win their last game and hope Warks don't. Then, Lancs only need to finish level on points, as they win on fewest defeats or the head to head record.

They also still have a chance of winning this game, incidentally. Setting a gettable target is no guarantee of winning.

Same kind of thinking that got Durham believing 360 wasn't enough in 2007 TOTFOM ;-)

What will they be thinking if Hants finish with 8 down?

Might as well have lost

Actually the 3 points makes a huge difference. They'll be thinking they have a fighting chance in the last match. Why are Hampshire not going for it anyway? They need the points more.

Looks like they'll be 14 behind Worcester if they draw. Maybe Lancs thought they might be tempted to have a dart anyway.

They'll be royally pissed at being set such a crap target

Is it 14 or 16? 16 I thought, Lancs on 210?

Lancashire 16 behind, Hampshire 14 behind Worcs if it's a draw.

Those 3 points make the difference. With them, Lancs only need to score 2 more boni than Warks in the last match, without them it's 5.

How many overs are left there?

Lancashire scored 353 off 77. I guess there was no agreement or if there was declaration bowling it was unilateral.

If Lancashire win this I think the declaration debate will be officially over ;-) (To be honest I couldn't even remember that 2007 match!)

 I will go underground and become an insurgency

Someone put evens up on Betfair as Hants lose the 6th wicket

Needless to say it's gone now

Kerrigan just running through them

Deffo needed the cushion of a 360 target ;-)

Well that's our title challenge over for another year. We'll finish 3rd and considering we twatted both of the sides above us twice it makes it all look a bit of a farce - mind it was the bottom clubs we struggled against. Not helped by the ECB either but we dropped a lot of silly points when we had a full side too.

Is that the place you get offers from real people instead of bookies?

Very intellingent timing of the declaration. Not sure why anyone doubted it ;-)
Was it the timing or the target that was at issue? They already bowled 78 overs, and I can't see how they would have left them any longer.

Last wicket falls 3 minutes from stumps.

Lancy twats

That was totally gripping

Yep. Almost lost my profit in the end

Both really. They might have gone for a lower target and lost more wickets

They've had a let off :-)
