Look North. Again.

Roker Park was full, never mind 12,000.

The Leed’s RIP coffin was paraded, before the team arrived with the cup
12, 000, what a load of tosh, 40,000 and I was one of them. Saw the lads on the bus from the upstairs window of the Wheatsheaf, then ran down to Roker Park and was in time to see the coffin then the cup.
Fabulous memory @Sneech yes it was a very, very long wait for the open bus parade. The parade started at Carville on the A690 with people lining the carriage way all the way to Durham Road in Sunderland where throngs were gathered any vantage point taken (tops of bus shelters etc) Through the town centre the same, then Monkwearmouth, Fulwell roker the same. In addition there was a large crowd at least 12,000 inside Roker Park itself.
I watched them parading the cup from the upstairs of the Wheatsheaf then ran down to Roker Park to see the Leeds coffin being laid in the centre circle.
Then came the parade of the cup in front of 40,000 fans. Where you get 12,000 I have no idea.

Guide to How to Alienate Local Football Supporters:

Step 1. Fig 1.
#1. Present a local regional magazine programme and for half an hour for every day of the week talk exclusively about one achievement of one club. Amplify the emotional side to pull at the heart strings. And if one so chooses, manipulate the subject context so you portray the achievement as considerably bigger than what it is.
That’s the bit I can’t get my head around - three large clubs in the NE so pretty much 60% could nt a flying fck about it and the rest of the country apart from sportwashed journalists are pretty much laughing at them (given it was a Micky mouse cup in the mag eyes when the Boro won it and we got to the final twice)

The problem is the Pink Palace is far too associated to all things Newcastle and it does form their output.

They need to move to Durham or some where more central and change the stupid name of their radio station.

The sportwashed journalists need to think what the Saudis did to one of their profession the biased cowards.

Most people in the NE are either ambivalent to the Mags or hold negative feelings towards them. Look N*wcastle need to remember this.

Look at the demographics of Newcastle United support. The central area is of course Newcastle and Gateshead. I think there is a sizeable area in and around County Durham by all accounts on here. But elsewhere it’s either sporadic or non existent.

Thankfully Burn didn't score last night or that would be another 3 days of "highlights" and how he had saved the world.

Or how a porter from a supermarket in Blyth achieved greatness.

That part is frankly overkill of the worst kind. I get the part about the rise. Although downplaying the role does Dan or the perception of the media’s reporting of him no favours. The job gets lots of laughs and we are often belittled but if anyone was asked to work a half hour shift portering they would run a mile. Strange. Why would you do that if the job is as meaningless as you think it is? The job encompasses lots of laborious tasks. Lots of physical exertion. Trolley pusher? Try pushing 19 or 20 together. See how light and easy they are. I have pushed more than that. The more experienced can manage the petrol station.

But to say Burn is some kind of example of young kids to follow about where hard work and dedication can lead to, is ridiculous

I’ve never seen anyone make those “difficult ethical choices” and then grovel the way the mags do though. They don’t have to do that. There’s no need to buy the green Saudi kit but they do so in their thousands because they want to.

They don’t have to cheer Al Rumayyan to when he lifts the trophy on the pitch. They could all have given him a V sign and then carried on the party. That’s certainly what Man United fans would do if the Glazers appeared on the pitch with a trophy. The mags would never dream of doing that though.

Have you ever seen any other fans celebrate anything like this?

The grovelling and lack of pride is entirely unique to the mags - no other set of fans has ever gone on like this. Completely shameless.
“Congratulations Saudi Arabia” seriously?

As has been said many a time, they knew what they were doing when they picked them
Live coverage of the Cup winning party in the park on BBC Newcastle?
I decided to catch the last bit of Comic Relief last night after the England match (only lasted 5 minutes) and the late night Look North was just starting first l. Lead story - their parade on the Town Moor. 5 days-on.

Fuck the Mags, murderers.

That video is tragic.

They have the most supporters in the Region so more of Look Norths viewers will be of a Newcastle persuasion rather than us or Middlesbrough.

We decided to go to Roker Park (to get a good view from the Fulwell End) which was opened up an hour or so before the bus was due at the stadium and was half-full in no-time and by the time the bus turned up (a couple of hours late), it was heaving. I thought the coffin was before the QPR match the next day - 9th May?

Hmm not sure about that. They get bigger crowds than we do and have far, far more plastic non match going fans added to that. I'd think the difference is quite sizable.
They will be if you take into account the people who watch the news but have little or no interest in footy.

I’ve just checked @Johnap who was I think club secretary at the time said there was 40,000 inside Roker Park that night. Amazing amount of people everywhere trying to catch a glimpse 😻
I was Ron Linney's assistant. He had to go to Carrville because the Cup was at Roker Park and as he said "Someone has to take it to the bus. It is all yours here." We were made aware of the lads walking from the town centre to Roker with the coffin. They arrived at the main entrance and asked the police if they could take it on the field. They came to me and I said yes. I seem to think that the team when they arrived kicked it to bits. As a passing thought we could never have done that against QPR the next night anyway as the referee was Peter Reeves from Leicester. A stickler for rules was Peter.
