Look North. Again.

Fabulous memory @Sneech yes it was a very, very long wait for the open bus parade. The parade started at Carville on the A690 with people lining the carriage way all the way to Durham Road in Sunderland where throngs were gathered any vantage point taken (tops of bus shelters etc) Through the town centre the same, then Monkwearmouth, Fulwell roker the same. In addition there was a large crowd at least 12,000 inside Roker Park itself.
Roker Park was full, never mind 12,000.

The Leed’s RIP coffin was paraded, before the team arrived with the cup

So a full Roker Park and all those people lining the route from the A1M at Carville to Sunderland itself where everyone that could lined the streets what is the estimate for people turning out to cheer the lads on? I can imagine the good people of hetton,Houghton, Easington and Seaham turned out too. Got to be a record number I reckon.

Yeah, I’m sure I read 250,000, but can’t remember where from.

I was at Wembley but didn’t make the victory parade, instead I was at the QPR game the following night along with 43,000 others

Yes 👍 250,000 rings a bell, also someone who posted on here can’t remember the exact username but I’m sure it included Shack said it was his cow with the red and white rosette in the fields between carville and Houghton 😎

I was there at the Board Inn and followed it up to The Prospect.. it was chaos, bus constantly having to stop because of the crowds

The way they were spinning things leading up to the final and some of the comments afterwards you'd think they have surpassed extent of that achievement in 73. I know technically they were 'underdogs' but the way it's been spoken about and the context it's used it's like they've pulled off some miracle achievement - not a team thats 6th (and over the last few seasons have outspent their opponents) or whatever beating a team thats 1st in a one off game. I swear we were given more of a chance in the build up when we played Liverpool in '92.

It's classic narcissistic behaviour, I mean do you recognise any of this......
To be fair I think they are the first team ever to win a major domestic trophy whilst beating the entire top four in the process so it's easy to see how they did it against all odds.
