12, 000, what a load of tosh, 40,000 and I was one of them. Saw the lads on the bus from the upstairs window of the Wheatsheaf, then ran down to Roker Park and was in time to see the coffin then the cup.

I watched them parading the cup from the upstairs of the Wheatsheaf then ran down to Roker Park to see the Leeds coffin being laid in the centre circle.
Then came the parade of the cup in front of 40,000 fans. Where you get 12,000 I have no idea.

That’s the bit I can’t get my head around - three large clubs in the NE so pretty much 60% could nt a flying fck about it and the rest of the country apart from sportwashed journalists are pretty much laughing at them (given it was a Micky mouse cup in the mag eyes when the Boro won it and we got to the final twice)

The problem is the Pink Palace is far too associated to all things Newcastle and it does form their output.

They need to move to Durham or some where more central and change the stupid name of their radio station.

The sportwashed journalists need to think what the Saudis did to one of their profession the biased cowards.

Look at the demographics of Newcastle United support. The central area is of course Newcastle and Gateshead. I think there is a sizeable area in and around County Durham by all accounts on here. But elsewhere it’s either sporadic or non existent.

That part is frankly overkill of the worst kind. I get the part about the rise. Although downplaying the role does Dan or the perception of the media’s reporting of him no favours. The job gets lots of laughs and we are often belittled but if anyone was asked to work a half hour shift portering they would run a mile. Strange. Why would you do that if the job is as meaningless as you think it is? The job encompasses lots of laborious tasks. Lots of physical exertion. Trolley pusher? Try pushing 19 or 20 together. See how light and easy they are. I have pushed more than that. The more experienced can manage the petrol station.

But to say Burn is some kind of example of young kids to follow about where hard work and dedication can lead to, is ridiculous

I decided to catch the last bit of Comic Relief last night after the England match (only lasted 5 minutes) and the late night Look North was just starting first l. Lead story - their parade on the Town Moor. 5 days-on.

They have the most supporters in the Region so more of Look Norths viewers will be of a Newcastle persuasion rather than us or Middlesbrough.

We decided to go to Roker Park (to get a good view from the Fulwell End) which was opened up an hour or so before the bus was due at the stadium and was half-full in no-time and by the time the bus turned up (a couple of hours late), it was heaving. I thought the coffin was before the QPR match the next day - 9th May?

I was Ron Linney's assistant. He had to go to Carrville because the Cup was at Roker Park and as he said "Someone has to take it to the bus. It is all yours here." We were made aware of the lads walking from the town centre to Roker with the coffin.They arrived at the main entrance and asked the police if they could take it on the field. They came to me and I said yes. I seem to think that the team when they arrived kicked it to bits. As a passing thought we could never have done that against QPR the next night anyway as the referee was Peter Reeves from Leicester. A stickler for rules was Peter.
