12, 000, what a load of tosh, 40,000 and I was one of them. Saw the lads on the bus from the upstairs window of the Wheatsheaf, then ran down to Roker Park and was in time to see the coffin then the cup.Roker Park was full, never mind 12,000.
The Leed’s RIP coffin was paraded, before the team arrived with the cup
I watched them parading the cup from the upstairs of the Wheatsheaf then ran down to Roker Park to see the Leeds coffin being laid in the centre circle.Fabulous memory @Sneech yes it was a very, very long wait for the open bus parade. The parade started at Carville on the A690 with people lining the carriage way all the way to Durham Road in Sunderland where throngs were gathered any vantage point taken (tops of bus shelters etc) Through the town centre the same, then Monkwearmouth, Fulwell roker the same. In addition there was a large crowd at least 12,000 inside Roker Park itself.
Then came the parade of the cup in front of 40,000 fans. Where you get 12,000 I have no idea.
