If that's the case, and they can prove it, then the upshot is still that the club should be offering this service and they aren't.

They're so short sighted it's really no surprise at all we are in such a mess. Can't believe the owner had had any success in business as every move he makes here is the wrong one.
I think I am right in saying that he made his money by dismantling companies and flogging off their assets.

So no real experience of trading and marketing/selling products.

Somehow still on the Wolves e-mail list from attending a match there a decade ago, just got a thing about WolvesTV. 45 quid for the year domestically for audio commentary and full video once the embargo is lifted. An additional 5 quid per match for overseas live viewing of matches that are available.

Sounds a bit of a clusterfuck, but that they've just got it sorted might mean we're in for something similar.

Hope so. Would gladly pay if offered. Curious how many of the clubs that have opted out will offer something like this.

Hopefully the club see sense and offer something like this or belatedly join ifollow.

Mind you, as we can't even release a kit on time and the one we have released is almost universally hated I don't have much faith in them to make the right call.

Suppose Wolves are on Sky/International 10 times this season. So as an overseas subscriber that's 10 games you cannot watch live because of international TV rights. That leaves 36 games at £5 a pop, plus the standard £45 to shell out, £225 next season. That's expensive IMO. Especially when some people abroad will be in countries that do not show championship games so there is no need for a blackout. For those that live in countries that show the Championship they also have the additional cost of their local service.

This is not going to stop piracy.

Sunderland have revealed quality, cost, and uncertainty over the number of games that could be broadcast lies behind the club’s decision not to livestream games for Black Cats fans based overseas.

But the club has unveiled plans to screen full 90-minute re-runs of home games via the official website for a subsidised fee. Those games will be available from 12noon the day following the match, to comply with EFL rules.

Starting this season, the EFL has introduced an online platform named iFollow to allow fans living outside the UK and Ireland to watch live games for an annual subscription fee of around £110.

But Sunderland are one of 14 Football League clubs that has opted out of the service, which has left overseas fans frustrated and wanting to know the reason for the decision.

Today the club has emailed fans who had enquired why it would not be signing up to iFollow, explaining that the standard one-camera coverage option offered by iFollow would not provide a sufficient quality service.

And to use a multi-camera setup to cover games, along with commentary, would be too expensive.

The club says it is also concerned that, with games broadcast on TV in the UK and abroad unable to livestreamed due to EFL rules, it could not offer fans a guaranteed minimum number of games that could be shown via iFollow.

However the plan to show home games via the website will at least give fans the ability to see some matches from afar.

Personally can see where they come from, but then why not offer the 1 camera for available games at a reduced rate. 'Non UK' supporters, plus those who would find a way to watch the games surely would rather see a 1 camera set up with no commentary rather than nothing

Reet can we watch us or not? home games not an issue but only get to about 10 away games so would be most helpful to my life if they could sort this
