Leeds forum

Had a discussion with two Leeds fans last week who advised me that their attendances in the Championship this season were in fact higher than ours.
Seems that attendances are now measured on available seats vs percentage fill 🤔
I did point out that on that basis Portsmouth had a higher attendance than Leeds.

Dear me, you're scratching about

Now you want to be selective and talk about post war success, rather than a club's overall history..... ours from 1879 and yours from 1919 ? History is what makes a club, not cherry picking selective parts of it.

As for the money factor ... much good it's done Leeds.

You're operating under massive annual losses, which put you in potential jeopardy of PSR.

Not forgetting that you went into liquidation in 2007.

So, maybe best to leave revenues out of it, eh?

It's a bit like a bloke bragging he earns £90k a year while his outgoings are £120k a year.

I genuinely don't know why you post on here. You haven't, nor will you ever, convince or convert any Sunderland fan into your way of thinking, the same would apply if any Sunderland fan had such an empty, meaningless life that for some perverse reason they trolled a Leeds football forum.
Quite honestly, it sounds both weird and sad that you feel and have this need.
This poster may be talking some shite but he's doing it and getting a reaction rather just being ignored.

I've mentioned this before as the early years isn't exactly like it was post war and so on. I just don't get why this success means so much when it comes to debating about the here and now, given it's a player coming here rather than Leeds that set it off.

Our first 3 championship wins in the 1890s and surely we had the pick of players from Scotland given our location? I had a quick look and I can see at least 27 names for the 3 winning seasons and just 4 weren't Scottish, 1 was Irish and one of the 3 Englishmen only appeared once.

Given far more recent history, which is more relevant to now then why not just accept Leeds have been more successful. Though they bought that success and time at the top of the league in the 90s and paid for it heavily and sank to the depths in the 2002. Just like us spending big but we didn't get far but both are back on the climb.

We know we've got a great following home and away but people bash Leeds attendance these days and talk about decades ago again. These days they're limited in capacity but generate nearly 3 times as much revenue which alone tells you their fans are paying far high prices on average for tickets. If we charged the same and limited STs to mid 20,000s like they do forcing 1,000s of fans to pay match day prices then we'd see a hit on attendance for sure given U16s are minimum £20 a game (apart from Family Stand)

Aye we've had class attendances in the past as another stick to beat clubs with but the mags etc used to go to our games and vice versa. Also take into account the catchment area around us that people would come to see football as where else can they see the Div 1 stars of the opposition teams in the flesh?

Aye at the end of the day, Diarra chose us but a lot of 'choosing' by players these days is the amount of money they get, bonuses, whatever perks they get, possibly even guaranteed playing time and a whole lot more and fuck all to do with who won the league decades ago or who gets the biggest crowd.

We all know we've got a great history but a lot of that was while football was growing but haway we've not exactly done much over the last 50 odds years. All this "but we've won more or we get more fans" is the stuff you'd get flustered about at school. As an adult it's just pointless dick waving as we know how 'big' we are and how well supported we've been so stay humble, but I suppose that's what footy banter is sometimes 🤣

Mad how petty people are over this stuff. Leeds are very big club imo and so are we. They seem to be personally offended that a player that nee one knew about 3/4 weeks ago has chosen someone else. It’ll happen to both of us this summer just move on.
This! Just I waffled on about it a bit more above but hopefully kill the thread as people give up scrolling down for the next post! 🤣

That’s a great post. Believe it or not I genuinely do want you guys to do well (as I stated in my OP) - just hopefully not at our expense. Good luck and hope Diarra works out for you 👍

Quite a few disrespectful arseholes on that forum, coming from a team who’ve only had a couple of seasons in the top flight in the last 20 years or so.
