My mistake, I was reading their WC qualification record!! Just had a look and I’ve no recollection of them playing in either tournament. I’m only in my 40’s so can’t even blame old age! They played in Euro 2012 and 2016.
Wrong baldyApparently Real Madrid want him to replace Ancelotti
€560,000 a year these football managers/coaches must be the luckiest people alive .Lee Carsley is expected to become the Republic of Ireland head coach on a four-year deal that takes the men’s national team to the 2028 European Championships. England under-21s boss expected to sign a four-year deal up to Euro 2028 worth €560,000 per year.
Lee Carsley set to be named Stephen Kenny’s replacement as Ireland manager
Must surely be a step up from the previous incumbent?
He is King of Scots, know yours.
Turned it down

Never heard of Evan Ferguson ?Ireland are wank these days. Used to produce some quality footballers. I probably couldn’t name a single Irish international now.
It’s still Robert the Bruce to some man !!!!Isn't Scotland part of his Kingdom? Therefore your King.
According to Paul Rowan in The Times.Carsley is even believed to have poured cold water on the notion that he had met the FAI headhunters and discussed the role, but certainly he was approached and didn’t need to notify his employer under the terms of his agreement as the FA had been long aware of his interest in taking the Ireland job. No formal request to speak to Carsley was made by the FAI, which would suggest that its dealings with him broke down at a relatively early stage. Any reluctance is likely to have come on Carsley’s side rather than the FAI’s, though the association made it clear yesterday that nobody had been offered the job and the search continues.
There is a train of thought that the former Ireland midfielder may still be formally approached by the FAI, which was reported to have been conducting interviews last week at the FA headquarters in St George’s Park, of all places.
Sounds like they still want Carsley but Neil Lennon is the back up option.
