Unification won’t happen next as either AJ/ Usyk will have to fight a mandatory. Unification would be this time next year when who knows what fury’s upto then.
Think undisputed supercedes mandatories but that's the point I'm making - it won't happen til next summer, is he supposed to sit around twiddling his thumbs til then because the only other fighters available aren't on his level?

If he was choosing Chisora over Usyk I would completely agree but it's not either or.

Joyce's age

Aye, he doesn't have time to waste. Usyk only 2 years behind him as well. When you're only fighting twice a year you have to get the right fights.
How? There's absolutely nothing stopping them negotiating the unification in the meantime. The first Wilder fight was all but signed before he stepped foot in the ring with Pianeta for starters.

Anyway, Bob Arum has said it's not happening and they're waiting for the AJ Usyk winner, so that's that.

Bob Arum is almost as big a shitehawk as Fury to be fair.

Don’t think the governing bodies see the unification above the mandatory’s anymore. Similar to when AJ had to fight Povetkin rather than Unification with Wilder. Boxings a sham , if everyone was under the same umbrella similar to the way the UFCs ran it would be much better

Nah you're right, they could start some sort of negotiations, but it puts a big obstacle in the way. You'd have one party coming out of a big fight, ready to commit to dates and such and the other party entering an absolutely pointless fight just as your schedule is free.

Wilder Fury 1 was a fight that Wilder thought was easy pickings with Fury coming back off his bender. I don't think it's unreasonable what he done in that instance. Same as other fighters who have fights to shake off rust etc with a bigger fight all but signed a few months later.

For this though, the biggest British fight in decades, it just doesn't look serious. Fury coming off a good win in a massive event, with Usyk/AJ coming off a massive win. It's almost laughable for one side to be like "Ah hold on, I think I need a tune up against Chisora first like".

I know I'm being optimistic with this bit, but just get it cracking in the winter. They'll not want to sacrifice the gate, but the big stadium fights are shite compared to indoor venues anyway. PPV sales will more than compensate. Unification just needs to be made with no more f***ing about.

But the fact that it was so bad that many thought it was just a joke and now Arum saying it's bullshit, sort of shows exactly why it shouldn't be made...

Top Rank isn't involved in the Chisora bout so who cares what he thinks about it. Tyson's loopholed the lot of em and done the bout via his own promotions company, the one where he does the meet and greets. Arum's just protecting his prized asset in the very unlikely scenario he loses.

Let's be honest here, Fury will try get around every loophole to ensure he gets what he wants - It was only very recently he tried setting up the fight in Saudi and forgot to tell us Wilder had a rematch clause.
The fact there's no middle-man involved in this fight where he'd be promoting and hosting his own event, all the revenue buys go to him just for beating up a 38 year old gatekeeper. The man's an actual genius.

I'm sure that if he's still got a fight with Arum (I'm not actually sure), you can't navigate round that just by changing to another promoter as they'll have exclusivity.

Yeah, the Wilder thing was a joke. His promoter is a Harvard law graduate who's worked massive jobs and they all just forgot about the rematch clause or assumed it wouldn't be used

It will be interesting to see if he has any complications obtaining a British license

I just know he's got 1 fight left on his contract with Top Rank, and obviously he's not going to use it up on Derek Chisora

Arum's left in a bit of a powerless position other than to offer a 1 fight extension on serious money but then again this is the same bloke who made a loss on all 3 Wilder fights, got rid of Ruiz and got rid of Crawford.. Him doing business is a bit like going to Ukraine for a health and safety course. He's completely clueless.

If Fury was to have a fight through a different promotional outlet and it wasn't agreed by Arum, he'd be sued to absolute fuck. I can't see Arum wanting to use that last fight on Chisora, unless like you say, he caveats it with an extension.

His licensing situation will be interesting. Whyte fight he was licensed by NSAC and fought as an overseas fighter. He can no longer enter the country who licensed him... Frank might be on the blower to Latvia again

Thought the Top Rank deal was up? It was a 5 fight deal - Schwarz, Wallin, Wilder, Wilder, Whyte

Unless Whyte didn't count? I know TR were his US promoters and Queensberry the UK promoters. In which case Chisora in Cardiff wouldn't either.

Can't see how another Top Rank deal would work for anything other than the undisputed fight. He can't fight in America and the Whyte fight did dreadful numbers over there as the main event was at 5pm their time

Was a 6 fight co promotional deal between TR and Queeensbury I believe.

You've missed a Wilder fight out so he's had 6 under top rank. I thought his Top Rank and ESPN deals had expired together after the Whyte fight but could be wrong.

Amongst all the brilliance Fury has, he's still a very dodgy character behind the scenes jumping into bed with the likes of Daniel Kinahan.

He's gone from I'm completely retired, to I'll fight for free, to going full Dr. Evil saying he wants 1 billion yen, to going I'll promote my own fight and fight a 38 year old gatekeeper. He does talk an immense alot of shite which is ignored when he does the talking in the ring.

Nobody mentioned that the only reason Fury is fighting Chisora is because he wants to give his mate a big purse before he retires?

It’s a crap fight, but whilst we are waiting for him to fight AJ or Usyk he might aswel. Ticks all the boxes, keeps him sharp, no chance of an upset, gives his mate a boat load of cash, keeps him in the spotlight.

My concern is that Fury might bottle Usyk if he beats AJ. The fans can stomach the Del fight if they know the big one is coming after. If not then he will have eternally damaged his legacy.

Not a great deal of depth in the division if Del Boy's the best they can come up with....even with the couple of fights that are already made.
