Lake district places to stay and eat

Right so gonna take Mrs for her bday to the lakes in a couple of weeks. She loves aonb and we've been all over Scotland so thought the lakes would be a good idea.

Anyone got any recommendations for nice hotels and good restaurants please.

It's 2 nights so budget probs 500 ish and then food on top.

I stopped in wild boar inn in December. Was 480 all in with an allowance of £49 per person in the restaurant each night. Had a nice room and enjoyed it. They brew own beer on site as well.

A hearty breakfast included 👍

Grand at Grasmere - lovely hotel in a great spot.

Waterhead Inn Ambleside - on the Lakeside next to the ferry, recently refurbished, nice rooms and canny food.

The likes of Forest Hall, L’enclume and Arkham Hall etc ( those with stars) are obviously more expensive. On your budget the likes of Inn on the Lake and Lodore( fanstastic Spa) all are 2 rosette food wise and good.

Both are part of same ownership and often have deals on

Stayed here a few times. The place is absolutely superb. Everything is real quality. Sheets, shower, sofas, hot tub are all luxury.

Few minutes drive from blencathra and Keswick. Loads of nice restaurants around that area. Looked Last week and there was a cracking cabin for £300 for 3 nights. Just booked for March to do more climbing.

Ambleside is nice -The waterhead (already mentioned) is canny - right on Windermere and 20 minute walk into Ambleside. There's Loads of decent restaurants in Ambleside, including the Michelin Star Old Stamp house, if you want to splash out -Lucy's on a plate not bad either and there's a very good Thai restaurant there.

Love the wild boar! There is a bottle of whisky with my name on near the fireplace

If you fancy a treat try the Beech Hill Windermere.

The room to have is the Windermere Suite. Private terrace and Hot tub overlooking the lake. It’s lovely .

zive also stated in the Ruskin suite which is a bit cheaper but still very nice.

Stayed there twice now and have it booked for Easter and August bank holiday weekend. Class that you get return booking discount as well. We got a swarm of mosquitoes the first time we went. They gave everyone a bottle of prosseco and drinks vouchers.

Did you think everything was top of the range? The beds, bedding, kitchen gear, hot tub. Seemed like no expense was spared. Seemed like they could have charged a lot more. They’re building a spa there now so the prices will rocket back end of the year. The staff were class. We had an issue where they didn’t book our dog in so they upgraded us to a much better cabin for nowt.
the entire lake district is an absolute rip off. a disneyland propped up by boring middle class tossers

Blimey mate. What happened?
