Keane on why he turned

Says he has to feel like there's a fit with the club and that there wasn't. It's hardly surprising after what's been going on after the last few weeks. If I went for a round of interviews with the likes of Speakman and Charlie, I'm not sure I'd have walked out there confident that they knew what they were doing. I was hoping he'd say more tbh, but he's obviously decided to leave it alone.

We move on. We'll see how the new man sets the side up after a full weeks training. Hopefully, he can pull a rabbit out the hat and get a much needed 3 points.

Can't help thinking of a Chris Maguire-esque return for Connor Wickham to pile on the misery.

Few things come to my mind (I’m not massively tactical minded so this are just general points mind)

He’s more like a head coach (Keane was a manager and I feel he would have butt heads massively with a DOF.

Players are a different breed now and it was a risk thinking Keane management style would work now as opposed to Neil who is a modern type with traditional values.

Keane was out for a long time, Neil hasn’t and we’ve got generally good feedback from fans from past teams.

Neil appears to be hands on and I think the current team needs that at the moment.

Finally I wanted Keane to come but I never saw past the short term. My feelings were that he would have boosted the team but it would have gone swiftly down hill eventually.
I wanted Keane quite simply because I liked the football we played when here last time. I didn’t know Neil’s well enough but always thought he spoke well and I remember him lighting up Preston when we appointed the terrible Grayson. As soon as I saw the former fans heaping praise on him I thought it sounded a better option. Fingers crossed. Time will tell.

Lets face it , the Manager or Head Coach role in professional football is a bloody nightmare pressure job in any league. A tough job, and everyone should remember that .

Weve had a few changes to say the least and some of the hounding out of managers by fans has been over the top.

Lets get fully behind Alex Neil our own bald eagle who will be leading our charge to the automatics or the dreaded Playoffs.

Good luck Alex and the squad . Its time we moved out of League one. Everyone`s had enough .

His ‘spoilt brat’ shenanigans have destabilised the club. Unforgivable from someone who makes his living from football.
In his own words he wasn’t a good fit - likely because he would have been expected to actually coach rather than hand it over to his ‘team’ hence the money wasn’t there. He should have walked away immediately so we could have got on with the job of employing a real manager.

I would have been happy with Roy Keane's return in the short term. This club is much bigger than any one man. We move on!

I said it at the time, he was never joining, it was just about feeding hie ego. He was never going to work with the structure

The last thing we need is a winner like Roy.

He would have been great here and would have lifted the whole club.
