The rights aren't up for another 2 seasons. If your fantasy situation played out Bein sport would be entitled to a huge refund.

You can't just opt out of a region 😂
MENA rights will be out for tender 2021. KSA already have form for circumventing broadcast deals. The AFC in 2016 for example.

Surely they're just expecting to make a play for the PL rights themselves? By declaring KSA separate from the MENA region they can bid for broadcast rights. More money for the PL, reduction in piracy, and another ridiculously wealthy party with skin in the game.

Fwiw, I don't think it's the most conciliatory strategy and were it not two antagonistic states I'm sure it would have been sorted more amicably and more quickly.

The rights have two years to run and BEIN agreed 500m for a deal that included KSA in the MENA contract. KSA is the wealthiest nation in the MENA region and it's share of MENA GDP is around 25%. If BEIN cannot sell the product to KSA then they deserve a 25% refund (125m or 6.25m per club). If a channel like KSA sports (or Saudi Telecom - 70% owned by PIF) want to bid for the Saudi rights when they come up I am sure the EPL will be happy to do so and likely will get more than 500m overall. In the meantime you have PIF trying to buy a club, in a league, who are from a country completely ignoring property rights.

I don't care. You can't ban the only legal broadcaster of premier League football when you've just said you are against piracy.

There are things happening, Saudi blocked BEIN from broadcasting Premier league matches yesterday.
I think this is probably relevant to the take over although I have no idea what it means.
I'm thinking it doesn't sound like good news but think it is a development and the relevance or lack of it is up for debate.
This forum is a good place for take over chat as you get the NUFC opinion on developments which probably slants toward optimism and the Sunderland one which slants towards negativity.
As @jlaws stated your personna has changed somewhat lately. Am not one for thinking you lot shouldn’t be on here but the last week has got pretty snidey on here🤷‍♂️

Fuck off you boring ****

Fuck you on about you dopey scruff?
You never change Eddie, calm down man and go get your lunch from Geordies
I’m not respectful? You clown, utter, utter sad clown. You know absolutely nothing about me.

I call a spade a spade, whether you are sima or not you’ve came on here and the first thing you do is go on the wind up and pull people to bits. Most can take it, but unfortunately some can’t. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you are the disrespectful one, your spending an incredible amount of time on a rival fans message board to wind people up.

Is respect in the mag world, signing up to a message board to antagonise and give grief to others? Honestly I dunno which is more believable, you’re Sima, or you’re a “respectful old contributor who has loads of respect for people, and went to a miners funeral” yet come on here to do the complete opposite.

Either way I stick to my original sentiment, you are a sad, lonely man. Thanks for the bite btw.
Show me where I pulled people to bits. You started this with your Sima shit. If you dont like the heat.....
Liar

Wanker alert

Wanker alert

This time. Just like the other liar. Now fuck off.

Well the deal was for 4 years and 1/2 of that has passed, so back of a fag packet maths says it's 500m/2/4= £60.25m or £3.125m per club. It needs to be clear what the distinction is between KSA and PIF. But this latest move doesn't appear to clear anything up.

Who knows? This shit will rumble on until the PL gives it the green light. Or, if denied, when the inevitable appeal culminates in a decision.

Come on Andy give it a rest. First of all you are here because it is the easiest place to find the info on the takeover, next you are just staying until the outcome and then will leave permanently but now you are here looking for bites and antagonise people. Do us all a favour and keep away until there is something substantive to comment upon.
I disagree, i'm well up for decent chat and debate with anyone that wants to engage in a civil manner.
If people are going to try and antagonise me with the 15 minutes, you're Sima, ****, wanker, fuck off etc etc drivel then they are going to get a bit back, but if you engage with me in a civil manner you will get a reasonable and civil response.

As far as your first point goes the takeover is the only real topic that interests for me on here, when it's resolved I fully expect to leave after a day or two and won't be back until another topic comes along that I have a big interest in.

I agree with me
