Jordan Peterson

Yeah, I'm right though. The nonsense that's crept in and became mainstream: CRT, white privilege, the trans ideology etc- giving kids puberty blockers and thinking that's progress , letting rapists self identify, freezing the Bank accounts of protestors (Trudeau) 10-15 years ago you couldn't even hear these far-left purple haired clowns, they were that much of a fringe element, now they've influenced all parts of society.
Like I said thank christ we have people like Peterson injecting some much needed common sense into the discourse.
Daily Mail reader ?

Does he still cry all the time?
I’ve no idea. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of what’s pushed by said groups online. I’d probably read some of his books like 12 rules for life as this is specialism and I don’t agree with him being cancelled out of his profession, given the subject he taught but I don’t buy into whichever way he’s portrayed.

I'm not engaging in any debate about the foundations of his research and the scientific absolutes of his arguments. I'm merely pointing out that he is a respected academic with objectively robust credentials.

I'm not sure that is true.

He has published 1 lead author paper in a peer reviewed journal in the last 10 years. His academic output is tiny, and not particularly influential. He's not the respected academic he like to pretend to be
Peterson is an academic that makes his point through empirical evidence. I’ve seen him alongside Douglas Murray and Murray is by far more socially aware and is probably more ‘read’ to be fair. However both men do deal in ‘facts, not emotion. This is a massive advantage when you see them arguing with clueless and unaware politicians.

For decades writers have made a good living selling pseudo-psychology and pseudo-philosophy books to neurotic middle aged women; The Road Less Travel, Eat Pray Love, etc.

All Peterson did was take that same model and apply it to neurotic men. 12 rules is the same silly mix of pseudo-psychology and pseudo-philosophy as Eat Pray Love, but because he is a pompous man we are supposed to take him seriously
he’s a no nonsense man twisted by lefties and extremists alike. A lot of what he says is slap in the face sense that was lost to the 70s. Too offensive to todays woke community but whenever I hear professions like teachers talk, they need to be given the ability to give parents Peterson style shake.

Why is it when people say "no nonsense" way follows is nearly always total nonsense?

<<Nah, I choose what I feel is right or wrong, it might be eclectic sources with similar but not identical dogma. But it’s still my choice, it’s unique to me but it’s of my own volition. Theres nearly 8 billion people on the planet, with billions of different ways of thinking. Some are convergent some are divergent. But the decision remains mine, eg this response to your post was entirely taken by me. I could have chose not to. No one person can be the guardian of morality
Correct 100%, the decisions are yours, of course they are which maybe on another day you may not have chosen to reply for a billion reasons. But you’d still have the same moral thought of not liking someone who you don’t know and based on other peoples opinion of him. It’s how our brains work.
An example is, say to a kid do you like food that they have not tasted before. Very few will say I don’t know I haven’t had it, they will judge it on what they know from other sources. 50% of kids who haven’t tasted it will say yes 50% will say no. In theory. It’s how we evolve. Until you can actually even contemplate listing to him with an open mind you will simply not like him.

So, not really 'mainstream'?
The NHS isn't mainstream? the BBC telling children in a program there's over 100 genders, not mainstream? De-platforming, villifying anyone who challenges the narrative. The SNP making it a crime to say offensive (what they deem offensive) stuff in your own home. The ideology is ubiquitous in higher education. Last month a lecturer in extremism at King's College labelled Douglas Murray and Joe Rogan as far right and more dangerous than Hamas and in his words de-platforming them wasn't enough they needed to be dealt with by other means.
This is all mainstream and Orwellian and why we need common sense and dissenting voices like Peterson, Douglas Murray and Konstantin Kisin. It's a shame Christopher Hitchens isn't still around to chuck his considerable intellectual clout around at all this madness.

Western feminists don't criticise Islam enough because they - direct quote - "of their unconscious wish for brutal male domination."

Not sure how many respected academics and great thinkers are taking the feminists basically want to be raped line, but hey ho.

Also, it's hilarious when he talks about things completely out of his academic area of expertise like lobsters being illustrative of human hierarchy as we 'diverged' from them, which made biologists laugh, or about post-modernism and Marxism when he is out of his depth, hasn't read primary sources, and straw-mans, mis-reads and mis-represents. If you talk, like Peterson does, about post-modern Marxism, you don't even know the wikipedia-level basics of what you're talking about. It's like talking about socialist conservatism.

He's the stupid person's idea of a clever person

I liked the one where he said climate models were wrong because they didn’t take “everything” into account.
