Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Marra, you're losing the plot here and spoiling the thread.
Kent Mackem is a far left, LGBTI activist - just hasn’t got the courage to come out and say!

He’s no Sunderland fan!
You haven't answered the question though....

I guess you would have celebrated like a mag with tea towel on your head if the Saudi regime had bought Sunderland instead of Newcastle United then?
What? This is bordering on the insane!

You admire Angela Rayner and Gary Lineker - left wing, woke, never created a job in his life, never ran a business - when do I stop?
You carry on mate.... you'll need to forgive me though as I need to return to completing my VAT return for the business I set up 20 years ago, and pay my employees.

I can see I am in the minority here and I don't wish to spoil the thread . Apologies to those people that think I have done so. This will be the last post for me on this thread.

I've made my points and backed them up with evidence. It's not for me to try to control other people's behaviour. We can only make our own decisions based on our own ethics, morals and principles.

Henderson was already set up for life. He didn't need to drop his admirable ethical stance. That s my point.

And yes, no doubt you will. If I do stop my 40 year stretch of closely following and supporting Sunderland that will be for me, not for you.
But some of the young lads we have won't be. Ergo he'll have advice for them. It's a job at the end of the day.

I think it's laughable you could consider dropping 40 years of support 'cos you're a bit miffed one player turned out for a club for a few months. It's really not that big of a deal marra.

We're discussing something that's hypothetical anyway as we've nee idea whether JH is even remotely interested in joining us. Nor do we know if the club and the coach think he's a good fit either.

After the hypocrisy of the Saudi move, opinions are always going to be divided, but to hoy the baby out with bath water and dumping support for the club over it, is a ridiculous over reaction.

Will he get booed by England fans? Will Toni get booed? Does Ronaldo get booked? Do they shite!

Your losing the plot just as much as the birtley poster here mind. Your double standards are also shining through.

In one breath none of us know that Hendo was actually sorry and we can’t make that assumption. But it’s all good you’re making the assumption that he just got sick over there, and that’s why he quit. Sorry but you can’t make one assumption if another is not allowed.

Your comparison to the mags is tiresome at best, and downright annoying at worst. A human being playing for a team in Saudi, is not the same as being owned by the Saudi state. It’s two completely different things.

A player made a mistake, he got crucified, he lost respect, he lost money, he lost his England place etc. a single man made a mistake, moved on, paid for that mistake, and in your opinion should pay for that mistake for the rest of his life. Otherwise you’ll “walk away” and anyway willing to accept that people make mistakes is a hypocrite.

Newcastle united are actively supporting and wearing Saudi colours, flags and clapping and cheering for a murderous regime. There’s no walking away from it, there’s no making a mistake, it’s quite literally ongoing and they are openly supporting it to the hilt.

That’s what this whole thing boils down to, an obsession to not be seen as mag like, it’s ridiculous, before the Saudis it was attendances, amongst other things. A player making a mistake and walking away is not the same as an entire city and fan base actively supporting a Saudi regime 🙄

Au revoir!

We need to stand up for Hendo - hate to see people ripping into a Sunderland legend with such personal, vile, toxic attacks! He’s no Sunderland fan !
Interesting that you choose to use 'woke' as an insult and yet want people to 'stand up for Hendo', a man who was a big supporter of rainbow laces etc

I think there's a really difficult question in there for a lot of us.

If it happened, whilst I wouldn't go on like them bastards, I don't think I could walk away from the club.

You are not grasping the basics - he is playing for a private club in Saudi - not the government. Do you condemn Isador for playing for a private club in Russia? Please answer - as I’ve seen no condemnation from you.
I said I was out but I can't resist replying 🤣 Haway man, he sold his morals to be used a sportswashing puppet for Saudi saying and doing stuff like this. Given the money he was on (until 2025 anyway) and the money he could have got elsewhere, did he really need even more millions to be used in this way?

“So do I go somewhere to try something new, to grow the game that I love in another country, and grow the league into one of the best in the world?”

That's what some still don't agree with even now and it was clearly evident in 2023. Now that a rumour of him coming back that opinion seems to have swayed greatly. I posted 4 Henderson thread links and this is just how many likes certain comments got about Jordan coming here late 2024/early 2025 compared to those who would.

Yes, I forgave him as soon as he realised he'd made a terrible mistake and told them stuff their money.
Many others didn't as you only have to read through the older threads

Sorry but no I wouldn’t as I don’t care. They are footballers not my family. Firstly if a player wants to earn as much money as possible then fair play to them, in no other career do people get scrutinised for this, I work in non-league football and it’s the same just a much smaller scale.

Secondly Henderson was asked due to his position within football. Why would he say no to what he perceived to be a good cause, saying no would have been worse for him.
Could he have said no to being the Saudi glove puppet or was he too poor at the time?

Don't get me wrong as I'm just playing devil's advocate as I'd have him back even though I'm not keen on what he did. Though I wouldn't go to the lengths some are trying to deflect the criticism that flew about at the time and still is now and try to compare it to Joe Public to justify the reason of him going there in the 1st place and the reasons why he left.

I have no problem with anyone wearing laces and standing up for members of the LGBTI community in places where they are condemned and even hung! That simply called being a humanitarian. Woke to me is being blindly wedded to calling out out discrimination against certain cohorts - whilst turning a blind eye to the same injustices amongst other groups.

In other words, condemning Hendo for playing football for a club in Saudi whilst turning a blind eye to Islamic regimes that hang members of the LGBTI community and allow men legally to have sex with 9 year old girls, it simply doesn’t fit their narrative. They are not humanitarian - they are woke, playing a game for political advantage!

So to bring it closer to home - Kent Mackem is aggressive in his condemnation of Hendo by association even though he has done nothing wrong - whilst turning a blind eye to Islamic regimes who proudly execute the same group of people. His condemnation is of the white male!

That is woke in my eyes!

Out of all the crap going on in the world I don't think Henderson running off to Saudi Arabia to play football and then regretting it is much of an issue.

If a local lad of his calibre wants to come back to Sunderland it would be daft to snub him for a moral purpose. We are talking about lads playing football it doesn't really need to go any deeper than that.
