Footballers aren't generally in employment in a position of trust looking after a child. Teachers are.Teachers aren't feted celebrities who can (and did) abuse their high profile position in order to perform sexual abuse though
A teenager bordering on being a young adult mateI've not commented on his sentence mate, however in my view what he did was wrong and I would have the same view if he had been a teacher, plumber or policeman. It's a crime , he was an adult she was a child...
Not sure I agree with all of that, how many school lads say 'miss ....' is sexy..Teachers aren't feted celebrities who can (and did) abuse their high profile position in order to perform sexual abuse though

Neither are right mind.
You can call it second guessing all you like - it's pretty evident some are swayed by the fact he played for us.
Not sure why you're so desperate to defend them.
You 'don't know because you're not them' but as usual have zero issue wading in on behalf of others then citing semantics when you get pulled up on it.
You say any other forum would be no different - so I essentially said how is that a defence? In my view some things should trump football tribalism.
If 'that's all' you were saying it was a pretty pointless comment and I'm not sure why you've bothered getting involved.
I'm of the view that some are clouded by the fact he played for us - a view supported by plenty of things I've heard and seen written since this whole sorry affair began. I understand you don't like seeing fellow Sunderland fans get criticised but perhaps it's worth acknowledging that 'just like any other club' we have a few knackers following us.
Hope this wasn't too clever from me![]()

No, my argument is that both of the above should be the caseIf your arguments is are their sentence should be longer as opposed to his reduced, I agree
How will the sun have got hold of this evidence?
Dear me, you just can't help yourself
I'm not defending them at all ...... you're overthinking again.
Why bother getting involved? It was you having a pop at me because you didn't understand what I was saying.
I've always condemned any 'Sunderland knackers' just like I've condemned Johnson.
You just seem desperate to prove a point and will simply twist people's comments into whatever suits you best.
It's very easy to condemn people for 'comments you've seen in the past' but, if you're being honest, you started off by implying there were people on this thread with clouded judgement.
There's only one, on this thread, as far as I can see ...........
so a child then...A teenager bordering on being a young adult mate
He doesn't deserve any favours mate...Agree that what he did was wrong (there's an age of consent for a reason) but also think his sentence was far too long.
I also think it's something of a non-story. How many prisoners can be expected to say to other prisoners "oh yeah, I took advantage of a vulnerable girl" whether they believe it or not. They have to put a brave face on really. Especially when he's high profile and everyone knows who he is.
Think it's pretty low to be reporting this really. Does the victim no favours, does AJ no favours and does the prison service no favours. Only people it benefits are the Sun.

Well my main point was about it not doing the victim any favours. She will read this and it will presumably upset her quite a bit. Why couldn't the Sun get the footage and just send it in to NOMS if they were that concerned about it? Putting it online just rams it in the victim's face imo.so a child then...

Oh, that's ok then! As you were teachers! Abuse your positions of power.
