He's been charged ffs man, I think a lot of people are underestimating how hard it is to charge someone with a sexual related crime without proper hard evidence.

I don't get that argument at all I'm afraid. He is innocent until prove guilty. He does not, through his work, have any unsupervised contact with children. So why should he not be allowed to continue? Just because he is 'in the public eye'? Because kids attend games? I just don't see the logic.

Where I think the club have - massively - shot themselves in the foot, is by suspending him when he was first arrested. As a result of that, they have made it look like the only reason he is allowed to play is to help us stay up.

The first suspension was inevitable as all the legal ramifications and process needed to be looked at. After doing so and taking a reasonable amount of time to consider matters then it made sense for them to revise the position. Therefore to be consistent it also makes sense to maintain this stance whilst he remains innocent until proven otherwise.

The club understand the sensitivities, trust me, but they took the most appropriate decision in the circumstances. They also know not everyone will agree so we all have to respect each others' opinions and agree to disagree without us all falling out.

A lot of the posts on here are bullshit. Where was the acrimony when the club brought him out of suspension and thousands were singing in support of him (against West Ham/Mags) despite the more than distinct possibility of the allegation going beyond the initial bail hearing such is the nature of 'delicate' enquiries?

I have more issue with a large swathes of the support on this, than I do with the club and their pragmatism - regarding 'flexibility' with their own internal disciplinary process - due to millions of pounds being at stake if we're relegated whilst never shifting from their unequivocally solid position of Johnson's right to a fair trial etc.

It's no good taking the moral highground now.

Would be interesting to see the reaction of those with no issue of him remaining in the squad if Johnson was a Newcastle player.

The rest of your paragraph
What, that in the circumstances I don't think it's right to make him available for selection? I don't, doesn't mean I think he's guilty, just think that whilst it's a possibility the club should restrain his option to represent them until it's sorted.

How about paying one of your players wages while they are in jail. Sounds unlikely I know. But it would certainly be interesting.

And I bet there will be a canny few Newcastle supporters who supported Andy Carroll and Joey Barton who will be condemning Johnson.
Not saying it's right, but rightly or wrongly it's the way it works.

And that's a perfectly fair and acceptable view. Others, such as I, would respectfully disagree but I totally respect your point of view.

You either believe in innocent until proven guilty or you don't. You are clearly the latter.

The conversation between player and club was probably fairly simple. They won't sack him because he has not (at this moment in time) been found guilty of anything. So they had the option of either suspending him or letting him play on. And as Johnson is clearly interested in playing football and they pay him fuck loads of money to do so, they presumably came to the conclusion that it would be beneficial for club and player to continue as normal.

What a load of shite man. I've got no bearing as to whether he's innocent or guilty given I've obviously never seen or heard any evidence of any sort regarding the matter. However, the fact the police have charged him does clearly suggest that there is a case to investigate. And given the nature of the crime coupled with the nature of our sport I just don't feel it's right that he should be in a position to represent us whilst this situation is ongoing.

Yep, absolutely for me. Surprised folk, or the majority don't see it this way.
