If that is the case he could well be in the England side for the Ashes if not before.

I can’t see him getting in the ashes test team like, he’s a fair way behind others who are all better red ball bowlers at home

Probs get in white ball squad, I have reservations about him going straight in as we’ve been doing so well

It does feel like everything is coming together for English cricket mind, I’d say we are just or 2 top order batsman short of being an amazing side

Good news. Pace
Fast as fook... . Gerrin

You are probably right as the wickets this summer will probably suit England's medium Pacers especially as it is the Ashes. but the one thing our pace attack lacks is a genuine quality fast bowler and Archer looks the best bet to me.

He’s not eligible till mid March though when the West Indies tour has ended. Can’t therefore see him making the World Cup.

Not sure about this.

Absolutely waltzes into the ODI side though.

They really want to win the World Cup!

We'll see.

Long-term, perhaps yes, though Stone has an even better average.

But aye, Archer - classical orthdox action, looks very repeatable, 90mph, averages 23 in first class cricket and can hit a sixes out the MCG. Not a lot to dislike in that.

Has an English father too and has always had a British passport so some people on here need to wind it in a bit.

That could spell the end of Mark Wood's international career however

Yes.

He's been a fair way away from the test team I think for a while - Stone already looked a death knell for him. I think Jamie Overton and Archer will be ahead of him for red ball too - and Archer is definitely definitely ahead of him in white ball.

Man management of the other players is a factor, but on talent he cruises in to the ODI side.

What’s the point in setting rules if you just change them?

If he was a footballer, rugby player, or Olympian, he wouldn't have even had to wait. His dad is English and he's a British citizen!
