I have to say, I love Joe Root, but I've always said I really don't see how he can inspire anyone. He says the dressing room supports him being captain. He's dull, tactics and teams wrong and his interviews make you sleepy

He shouldnt be offered the captain job with his mental healthAll well and good celebrating, likely to mean a more stressful work load for Stokes. Not what's needed.

I would go Broad as interimSo, Stokes out of the running, who is the next captain? You've been one of the biggest critics of Root's captaincy but there's no obvious replacement.

You can't make him do the job. If director of cricket is Key, as rumoured, he wants Jos Buttler as captain. As mad as it is, he's 35 and not a guarantre in every test match. Him or Anderson taking over is kicking the can down the road. Madness to let Root give it up at this stage.

Apparently Eoin Morgan defers to him all the time as he has a brilliant cricketing brain. Trouble is he isn't currently good enough to get pickedSensible choince, in the medium term. No improvement on Root, probably worse.
That’s the difficulty respect and cricket brain he has but test cricketer probably not.Apparently Eoin Morgan defers to him all the time as he has a brilliant cricketing brain. Trouble is he isn't currently good enough to get picked
I will start off by saying I agree that he should still be the skipperAs mad as it is, he's 35 and not a guarantre in every test match. Him or Anderson taking over is kicking the can down the road. Madness to let Root give it up at this stage.
I will start off by saying I agree that he should still be the skipper. But you could tell by his body language when Gower hauled him over the coals in the Caribbean he was struggling to come up with answers and looked like he was knackered with it all.
He's not even in the odi team on merit at the moment he's never a test player already failed onceI'd have Morgan Captain batting 3 or 4
I don't think Morgan is fit enough to play first class cricket any moreI'd have Morgan Captain batting 3 or 4
I'd have Morgan Captain batting 3 or 4
He's like Ponting and Langer, he takes no crapCan't even get in the one day team, his speciality, on merit. What makes him deserving of captain and first or second drop of the test team where he's already failed?
