Joe Root

Fairly inevitable decision really. Hope he keeps on scoring daddy hundreds but time for a new captain.

Just haven't a clue who. Just hope it's not Ben Stokes. Let him concentrate on his own game without the extra strain of captaincy.

As mad as it is, he's 35 and not a guarantre in every test match. Him or Anderson taking over is kicking the can down the road. Madness to let Root give it up at this stage.
You can't make him do the job. If director of cricket is Key, as rumoured, he wants Jos Buttler as captain.

Apparently Eoin Morgan defers to him all the time as he has a brilliant cricketing brain. Trouble is he isn't currently good enough to get picked
That’s the difficulty respect and cricket brain he has but test cricketer probably not.

I am his biggest fan but his game has clearly not taken to test cricket

I will start off by saying I agree that he should still be the skipper ;). But you could tell by his body language when Gower hauled him over the coals in the Caribbean he was struggling to come up with answers and looked like he was knackered with it all.

I agree I think the last 6 months has taken it's toll in him but it's left us in a right state.

Bring back Ian Bell.
