Joe Root calls for a reduction in county cricker

Yeah but tbf mate, that is what the article from the op says.

From research from the PCA 81% of the players have concerns over the number of games
As per the stats I posted before, players seem to be playing less domestic cricket rather than more although you could argue the intensity has increased with a switch from longer format to shorter format. If this is a problem with domestic cricket then im not sure its a new problem.

What potentially exacerbates things is that players are playing a lot more franchise cricket abroad than they used to plus international demands have increased although this wont impact most players. Again though, thats not an issue with just domestic cricket.

Sure looked like it….

Yep, I stand by my initial opinion.

Nobody is ‘forgetting’ their careers. NOBODY.
Looks like once again you going to try and turn this into a point scoring excercise.

Rather than accepting I simply think it’s fair to disagree with Root and Strauss views.

But not fair to abuse them and numerous name calling as they deserve more respect

Not really, just pointing out that once again you’ve come onto a thread to get wildly hysterical about something that literally NOBODY is doing.

I’ve made my point, everyone can see it, we’re done here.

This just follows on from Andre Strauss' review of English cricket which recommended a reduction in domestic cricket. That review was aimed at improving the success of the England men's team. How exactly did the ECB's introduction of The Hundred improve the success of the England men's team? A format that no one else plays, distracting from other formats and creating scheduling overload. Hypocrisy.

I guess the options are as follows:

1. Stick with the current situation
2. Get rid of the hundred
3. Reduce number of one day, 4 day and/or T20 games
4. Thinking outside the box - move 4 day back to 3 day games as per pre 1988. Would need to have conditions more condusive to victories. Win rates seemed to be fine on 3 day before.

My vote is get rid of the hundred and relaunch T20
Basically the question is "Is your workload too heavy". Put the question to any workforce and the average response "Yes" would be much higher than 81%.
Same as is your pay fair which funnily enough the majority of people also disagree with

It didn’t, simply put. However as Huw Turbervill mentioned, they weren’t allowed to speak about it at all during the entire review. Which is f*cking bollocks.

Oh the irony. How many games will he play? No problems with the Hundred though eh? That white elephant that pays him a decent wage for a few games.

Great, so are we now going to stop playing County Championship games in June as well as in July? Maybe we could play them in February?

VOFP or shall we just call him MBH for short, seems to think that if you disgree with someones opinion that means you think he's a 'bellend'.

For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think Root is a 'bellend' and I respect him. I just think on this issue that he is massively wrong.

I totally respect although disagree with you on your second paragraph.

Your first is simply not what I was saying,

I was saying Joe Root deserves more respect that been called a ‘squeaky Div’ ‘ self centered little drip’ ‘ spoilt brat’ , monumental twat’ amongst others names thrown at him on this thread

imagine calling Jo Root . Fwiw having kids who have played against him from his early days at Sheffield Collegiate he's known as generally a decent down to earth lad for all his success and i think that shows through in his game. Theres a saying somewhere " a man will be at the wicket as he is in life " and anyone can see a decent bloke at the wicket in Root.

Well that’s it, I think he comes across as a decent lad, and can’t remember many or any name calling toward him before on this board.

However as soon as he suggests a change a number of people start with the name calling, others put a view across respectfully why they disagree

Joe Root has always come across to me as a decent enough bloke, he's also on the ECB payroll.

I wouldn't expect anything else than whatever the ECB want him to say.
