Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

According to the latest report, we’re off to watch him again this week in the europa league.

The club clearly rate him very highly if we’re to go back in for him.

3 players off an absolutely perfect team / squad.

Lucumi, another CM & another player across the front 3
They must rate him higher than Alderete which is obviously a good thing but not sure we should be spending our money on him in January. Midfielder or winger is probably more useful, unless we can get both then fair play.

Not that easy we have to be careful around the homegrown player role

PL Says:

"Each club’s squad must contain no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria. The rest of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be "Home Grown"."

So in reality we can have a max of 17 non-homegrown. The number of home grown is less important.

Also

PL says:

"A club’s Under-21 players are not included on the 25-man squad lists. These players are also eligible to play in the Premier League. " U21 is defined as born after 1 Jan 2004.

So Talbi, Diarra and Sadiki dont count towards the 17

Anyway we currently have 14 non home grown in the squad list - and we only have 23 in total in the senior squad list. * is home grown

Adingra, Simon
Alderete Fernandez, Omar Federico
Alese, Ajibola Joshua Odunayo*
Ballard, Daniel George*
Brobbey, Brian Ebenezer Adjai
Cirkin, Dennis*
Geertruida, Lutsharel Emiliano
Hjelde, Leo Fuhr
Hume, Trai
Isidor, Wilson
Le Fee, Enzo Jérémy
Mandava, Reinildo Isnard
Masuaku Kawela, Fuka-Arthur
Moore, Simon William*
Mukiele Mulere, Nordi
Mundle, Romaine Lee*
Neil, Daniel James*
Nna Noukeu, Blondy Rudolph*
O'Nien, Luke Terry*
Patterson, Anthony William*
Roefs, Robin Gerardus Petrus
Traore, Bertrand Isidore
Xhaka, Granit

Hopefully we are in a strong position by then that we aren't looking to desperately fill any position, but instead looking for good value opportunities to strengthen where possible. It's probably too difficult to predict after just 5 games both where we might need to improve further during the January window, or where we might need to strengthen due to injuries. Early days but certainly no harm in continuing to watch Lucumi (and hopefully other potential targets) in the meantime.

However, after 5 games isn't it incredibly positive that for a newly-promoted team we are not looking especially weak anywhere in the team, as things stand.

Do you have a copy of this report?

I don’t think he ( or they ) is rated higher than Alderete.
I reckon the plan is Mukiele Lucumi, Alderete and Reinildo (A.N. Other) as a back 4
I realise that will have Hume/Ballard cabal snorting with indignation, but there you go

Is there not a 4 home home grown players rule or is that just European football?

As we only have 2 in the squad which is what I was assuming the reason for a smaller squad was

Yeah I think if we get Lucumi and he does well we just wouldn't make Geertrude permanent

Geertruida has played slightly more games as RB than CB 161 v 115.
RLB has said he views him as more of a CB though. Just wondering really, I think assuming we stay up and want to push on. If we get Lucumi I can imagine the near 20 mil Geertruida would cost may be better off spent elsewhere
