Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

I think we’ll steer clear of him now. We clearly wanted him, but everyone knows how important it is to KLD/Speakman to be ambitious, yet be a “good” club to deal with.

We do things the right way.

Players who have spent 3 or more years under the age of 21 at clubs under English or Welsh FA's I think.
Ah ok, guessing wales is included purely because of the likes of Cardiff and Swansea playing in the English league structure. Strange to not then just include Scotland and N Ireland in the mix, but I guess it’s to try to focus on the English young players, rather than any others

It hurts etc but maybe what they have done is good for the game in general.
It sends a message to club fans that club will stand up against best players being cherry picked Willy Nelly with nary a whimper of protest.
Imagine if eg Sadiki ends up being a reincarnation of peak Kante and despite having several years left on his contract and we want to keep him, a big 6 team comes calling and turns his head?
I would expect my club to dig its heels in
That’s not the model.

If they come in with a massive offer, he’s gone.

There are "homegrown" requirements for both players trained in England and players trained at your own club.
Does Northern Ireland league teams not fall under it?
No, for footballing purposes Northern Ireland and Scotland are completely different countries.

Wales is slightly different with some Welsh clubs playing in the English leagues.

It's not even really about the nationality of the players. I don't know for certain but with Mayenda only being 20 I think he might count towards home grown after this season.

The lad needs to just shut up and be proffesional until January and see if he can make the deal happen then. Unlike the skunks, I wouldnt want a player who acts like this here.

I really rate Aljese. Reckon there’s a top drawer CB . Didn’t realise he is taller than Alderete and same height as Mukiele.
Admittedly only seen him playing in c’ship games but he seems ( when fit ) so composed and has so much time
He's nowhere near the ability level of those two though

We currently have seven centre backs within the 25 players squad (Alderete, Alese, Ballard, Geertruida, Hjelde, Mukiele and O'Nein).

We also currently have nine 'home-grown' players (Alese, Ballard, Cirkin, Moore, Mundle, Neil, Nna Noukeu, O'Nein and Patterson).

If we were to bring in another overseas centre-back in the shape of Lucumi, then Hjelde is likely to be the one who drops out of the squad. Although Nna Noukeu could also be easily dropped from the squad, this would reduce the 'home-grown' contingent to the required minimum of eight players.

On the basis of pursuing a policy of continuously improving the squad, Lucumi would seem an obvious up-grade on Hjelde as a left-sided centre back.

How Le Bris would accommodate the members of the improved centre back cohort would be a nice problem to have.

According to the latest report, we’re off to watch him again this week in the europa league.

The club clearly rate him very highly if we’re to go back in for him.

3 players off an absolutely perfect team / squad.

Lucumi, another CM & another player across the front 3
